The problem with modern products is that they are no longer designed with costumer satisfaction in mind but instead to be just good enough that costumer will accept it while cutting as many corners as possible. The thing is that it’s this apathetic view that leads to said companies collapsing or having to deal with a newer company as a rival.

I will blacklist crowdfunding campaigns involving Unity once more monetization leaning features are implemented. It is a good thing I left Unity several years ago when they dropped version licenses for subscription model. I have due cause to be suspicious of game devs who use later Unity builds now, and will completely blacklist them if any of their games have ads in them, paid or not. I would stomach ads on free games, but the lines are crossed and the contract is broken. It is time to let those devs slowly bleed their wallets to death in their subscription fees.

This is a big reason why modern gaming is declared bad because of people who dont care about games and have horrendous mangament skills. In the past a lot of games were created by people who genuinely wanted to make games. Remember bungie was a much smaller studio with a lot less money in the past but they where able to create the halo franchise which enjoyed immense success but now 343 which had a larger team and much more funding struggles to reach the same levels of fame and content that previous games had. I just hope us indie devs dont get caught up in all this, im going to stick with unity as its the only engine I have ever used and Im deep into a project already, but people are switching engines like wild fire and i dont blame them, just know i dont support micro transactions ill never add ads into my games and always make sure i put gamers forward over profit i love games design because i get to create entire worlds and charactors in front of my very eyes and its my dream job, im not gonna switch engines because the stupid dev called us indie game developers idiots, by judging indie game devs for using unity, your actually making it worse for the indie game devs that don`t support heavy monetization so remember, when you hate a company like unity please make sure its directed towards the CEO and not us indie devs just trying to make amazing games people actually like instead of crappy games like diablo immortal, i have never used unitys assts store i have never used ads and never will do to be honest micro tracsactions make me sick to my stomach and i dont believe they should even be allowed in a video game at all, thats justmy oppinion but this CEO has insulted us yeah but were more worried on people boycotting us indie developers that make games that are not heavily monitized and that make amazing games in unity like CupHead, Subnautica, Hollow Knight, City Skylines, untitled goose game, Hearthstone, Ori and the blind forest, Fall Guys, Beat Saber, firewatch and Genshin Impact all these games were created using unity engine and for us indie devs that can not switch engines easily please don`t judge us were just victims in all this we were called stupid and we are currently worried sick that our lives are going down the drain because some ass decided to open his stupid mouth so please direct you hate towards John Riccitiello and not us indie game developers, for some of us switching engines is just not possible this far down the line

The problem with this CEO is that he seems to think that there is a dicotomy between creating games as an artistic persuit and making games just for the sake of making a profit, this is clearly not the case. For the past couple decades there have been plenty of games that had a lot of passion put into them that were both extremely profitable and groundbreaking upon their release. Titles such as Minecraft (specifically 1.0 version), Undertale, and Stardew Valley. The thing this CEO is focused on isn't making a successful product, it's to make a product that generates growth after a game's release.

I doubt any of these can compare to sheer metric fuckton of of money that FIFA Ultimate Team gives them ALONE in a quarter tho. The unfortunate reality is that gacha mobile games earn more money than any proper games. Mobile market outpaces PC and console market revenues combined by an order of magnitude. It's unfortunate reality that we live in, in which people are grossly irresponsible with their money and it's wallet not words that dictates the terms. We're rapidly approaching times where companies that have means to push the boundaries and innovate refuse to do so and instead put minimum effort into making the game and spend 3x the amount on marketing instead. Times where we will have to make games we want to play ourselves.

Companies like EA dress them up to look like video games and call the gambling part "loot boxes," but it for all intents and purposes it's basically roulette or the lotto. Crap like that should be banned, or at the very least heavily regulated and move to a separate walled-off category of AO-rated titles.

There are only a few reasons to be bringing in a malware company that specializes in creating malware to work on your engine, and most of them involve inserting malware onto the devices of your customers. Given what kind of person we know the ceo is, it would be stupid to think he wouldn't be willing to cross more lines than he already has for the sake of self enrichment. Edit: For clarity, future games is in reference to games that come out in the future. Already published titles should be fine.

Aside from questionable acquisitions and quotes, this s what bugs me the most. I mean, it’s basic.
