Stephen, you come across as such a genuine man. Have to say I am fascinated by how you got to where you got too. I’ve commented before on here and I should have come and watched your show. Would love to come and listen to you live. I’ll go online and check out when you’re next doing a live show. You’re a good man 👍

Gangster No.1 is THE greatest British gangster film ever made! By FAR!
@tirednsleepy445 күн бұрын
Glad you covered this one, it’s one of my favourites. Plenty of artistic licence on any form of real life, but tells a good story in the time it has. Think I enjoy it so much because it doesn’t follow the standard template where people try to imitate an early guy ritchie movie.

I think what sets this film apart is that it presents a protagonist that is shown as a complete psychopath, with zero morals or compassion. He comes across like a serial killer more than the traditional criminal archetype (particular his sadism) where they usually have some human dimension. They don't make ANY effort to try to make him charming or loveable...rather, the antagonist of the movie (Freddy Mays) is the one who is shown to be capable of empathy/love, but that's his weakness. In that regard, it's closer to psychological/horror than a traditional crime movie, akin to Noghtcrawler or American Psycho.
