This hits me hard too. Actually, more for my husband's situation. He was earning a lot, but suddenly he lost everything. He told me, he learnt more after losing what he had before. He's on his way back up. He treated me and our children really well. I'd say it's a good life lesson - losing everything.

You'll be surprised by much cheaper these ingredients become when you buy them in bulk from the producers themselves or a wholesaler. I buy my meat in bulk from stores that cater to restaurants and I can never stomach the normal prices in supermarkets. Scallops, salmon- in Japan at least if you buy in bulk, especially if it's frozen, they're really really cheap, cheaper than any other meat by pound maybe except chicken breasts.

When you live an honest life, you are less troubled. It isn't perfect, but to feel content does not mean having everything. To find the perfect balance is to be average, neither too little nor too much.

My dad was an ex convict too, and he only told my sister and I about it when we were about 15 16. We were both really shocked, bec we had neverrrr thought that he would be an ex convict, bec he is successful, righteous, loving, etc. We asked him why didn't he tell us about it until then. He said he was afraid of how we wld see him. But honestly, I am so, soo proud of my father and I respect my mum who stuck through with him the entire time too.
