When Mat said the bit about people learning English due to RuneScape, that described me. I was YEARS ahead of my class due to this game. I was able to speak, read and write English before we even got English classes in elementary school. The game defined a huge portion of my life and who I am today, and I am still a proud player!

@@LV9_x You’ve made some good points, albeit, a little aggressively. The spirit of what I meant to say is that Lost Ark devs could learn a lot from how OSRS runs it’s game. Even as an RS3 player, I thoroughly enjoyed this interview hearing about Jagex, thought processes behind content and personal insight. It would be fantastic to see more of these, not only for OSRS, but also RS3 mods. Matt's ending point on, how much of an impact the game has, really hit home. From the moment I started playing some 16 years ago, RS has always been a part of my life and I can't imagine life without having being part of this community. Quite recently, 2 of my friends who met through RS got married recently and i travelled from the UK to Canada to be there. As Matt said, its the things like this that truly make this game magical.

In all honesty, I wouldn't ask him to come back. Not because I do not want him to, but because taking a step to go for something you want is NOT easy, and I couldn't be more happy that he has taken that step and feels so confident about it. I truly think he will be happy going forward. The interview was fantastic. Mat is very tactful to not say things that will not cause his former coworkers grief or future headaches, and he provided information that helped me understand a lot of the decision making and reasoning behind the curtains. As an aspiring developer, that is really valuable to me, personally. I was especially touched when he mentioned how he knows of people who got in to development because of the game he cared for, as that is how I became inspired to take the path I am on now. And of course, these answers and revelations would not have been possible if not for the fantastic direction of the interviewer. You did a fantastic job and asked a lot of the questions I personally wanted to know in regards to the game. I personally would like to know more about the man himself, rather than the game, but time is limited in an already lengthy video. Regardless, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this while I grind out my slayer task.

@DKong1002 жыл бұрын
That's really on the devs themselves though. They failed to address this issue with RS2 and carried it over to RS3 and OSRS. They don't understand that game linearity helps fix this issue, and revisiting and readjusting old content periodically will fix this issue long term. On top of that they also don't understand that their "fixes" to botting also plays into this problem too. They're injecting so much more artificial gold into the game than botting ever did, and are doing absolutely nothing about stabilizing how much gold goes in and out of the game. They also do absolutely nothing to address the issues of why people bot in the first place either, and push the blame onto botters rather than reflecting on their own decisions that lead to such an outcome. A lot of these problems stem from the fact that the devs either don't directly see the issue and therefor believe that they don't exist, or just don't budge on it because they believe that their is no issue in their design.

I can see what you mean and it's why I think the smaller updates like the tutorial guy in Lumbridge were just fine. I jumped into OSRS like most players: having played rs before and with at least some idea of where to start, and with a rather large advantage of having played the holiday events when they came out and selling the stuff before players realized they wouldn't be discontinued and made an easy 1M starter cash that way. Even with all that, stuff used in END endgame osrs content like Inferno like perfect tick manipulation, constant gear switches, and utilizing third party stuff like Runelite was completely alien to me and it stoppered me pretty hard from doing anything harder than Vorkath.
@elobiretv2 жыл бұрын
To be fair though osrs was originally intended for people that played the game back in the day and want a bit of nostalgia. The worst thing they did was cater to people that never played the old game and then ruined a lot of it for those of us that liked how it was back in '07.

Jagex, you have a lot of dedicated players and.. experts playing your game - many want to help too. Don't be afraid to accept it sometimes. Crowdsourcing security is much cheaper, explain that to the hedgefund.

This won't be seen but, I had my main account years ago hijacked and used to bot, I made an appeal when I decided to finally log back on and was denied, is there any other way to speak to jagex to look into it? My appeal has been denied, is that basically the end of my account that I made in 2007? It's sad and really unfair..

@@ezrathompson I can't it just says next to the banned reason that my appeal was denied, I don't mean to rant as I still love the game, it's just sad it went this way, haha

@@ezrathompson just had another look and I definitely can appeal again, so sad as it is so one sided, account was banned early last year, is there no other way to fight for the account?

You can appeal and regain access to almost any account 3 years after it was banned. So you can try appealing again at that point.

I'm surprised he didn't even mention the potential for temporary modes to work as public betas for new content in the main game. That's the best way to deal with "unpolled massive changes" he talked about.
