Some of these beliefs are based on ignorance. Other parts do not take the conditions or climate of historic periods into account. Finally words like rape had somewhat different words and were even defined differently in historic times, as in the 'rape' of a city. THis fact is just as true for every religion as it is for the Koran. Consider the word perversion. It has a basic social meaning today but, the word perversion in the Holy Bible actually means stubborn self will, which if you believe in morality, is at the heart of all definitions of perversion, whether that perversion is abominable to God or laws based on acceptable social practices.
