Dave Radband is an ex-special forces support solider who has been subject to the ultimate test. This man has completed several high pressure tours in violent war zones, and engaged in multiple fire fights, watching his friends killed in action. However, his biggest battle was still to come, and this wasn’t in the from of a war enemy, but in his own mind.

Ben like you I had a job the broke me towards the end of my service. I got the mandatory 15 weeks EMDR and then some Dick supervisor tried to get me back front line. NHS we’re not so good. I like this guys honesty about his MH thank you both made an old Cop smile.

Ben and Dave thanks for your honesty, I realize that I am not the only one. I have severe depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Can't sleep with my wife because of the nightmares and the danger that I will someday hurt her. Please think of me tonight, as with every night I dread sleep time. I will be on the sofa, best when I am awake at least what seems like my dark reality cannot haunt me. It's the constant struggle and the thought that tomorrow, the next day and this is my reality. Sometimes I just think it's only a matter of time and then fuck this life. Good to her you and Dave talking, at least I am not alone. Sláinte

I've recently realised that I have had intrusive suicidal thoughts since the age of 8....have them to this day now aged 34...learning to accept that and to learn to live with it (ironically) my daughter is the only thing that will keep me from acting upon this as I refuse to traumatise her life the way mine was...she's not the one who fucked up my childhood so she doesn't deserve the ramifications. This life is hard for us all...we are all just trying our best to survive, hold on everyone, this tidal wave can't and won't last forever 💖💗

This was a great episode. Dave, my heart goes out to you. I have BPD too, and I don’t think it’s ever something you can get completely cured of because it’s just physically how our brains work. I can’t imagine what you’ve gone through but thank you for spreading the word that it’s okay to talk. And Ben, congrats on the ambassador-ship! Well deserved, you’re doing big things for people and you probably don’t realise how many.

Nice one Ben and good on Dave demanding to know his diagnosis ...i get so pissed off with "We will discuss it later " not acceptable ....I have always told people i have major anxiety disorder and i see a shrink ...people have made comments i have had Dr's make comments ....nobody take this the wrong way if your an addict here in the US plenty of help but if you have mental health issues no beds for people ...3 mths before you can find a doc and it will be cash ...i have also noticed employers are wary of mental health and dont cover jobs but addiction company ins cover your 30 day stay and keep your job ...BS .

My dad was in the army for 22 years. Cheshire regiment 1st battalion in northern Ireland. He went there many times. I grew up looking under the car for bombs!! My dad's sister in law was killed in the droppin well bombing in 82. He lost lots of his friends during tours of ni and still doesn't talk about his experiences there. He talks about other deployments but ni never xx
