I figured i would need one, that sun, ohhooo that sun felt 4 feet above my head at times, good video on the scarf. And good conversation thanks rusty. Im sure you enjoyed that pint(s)

Getting a bit older and thin up top, but still active and in good strength and health, I love these things. Great for whisking sweat and keeping the sun off of my head and neck. Cheers.

Old man also sang praise for the old shemagh, same place in the Oman, also in jungle. Never taught me how to use the bloody thing though or had one at hand! Cheers Rusty.

I worked in the Oman desert on the land oil Riggs and MATE! You are so right!!! It felt like I was being sand blasted at 55degC!! So what I did was put a t-shirt over my head, use the head hole for my eyes and tied the 2 arms behind my head!!

Rusty, I have watched your podcasts on SAS WDW. I have to say I agree wholeheartedly of what you are saying. The SAS came into my knowledge during the 1st gulf War, I have read a lot of books before the 1996 disclosure came into effect, I have obviously read Ryan, and McNabs accounts of their involvement in that theatre. I know that they may have embellished their accounts but hey ho, artistic license. I think the SAS and its history is 2nd to none, and people like yourself are true hero's. Which brings me to this, I cannot get enough info on The Regiment and I will read any book by ex personnel. You are bang on the money with your assessment of that shite c4 production. Now I am a civilian, and I cannot take away the military accomplishments by any of the DS who appear on that show. Furthermore though when I first watched the show in its first series even myself raised eyebrows at its marketing, SAS as I was aware of their SBS background. I think you are truly justified in trying to protect your regiments Fine History and standing, and think that the current TV program is shite sensationalised bollocks. I've read all of their books, I take nothing away from their bravery and service. But to masquerade as SAS, aside from Mark, and Jay, seems stupid I'm sure they are aware of the ramifications of doing so, especially knowing that the people they have served alongside must be watching, and cringing. I won't watch another episode. Fed up of the hype and bullshit on twitter. Fair play to you Rusty
@appearce55
@appearce55 4 жыл бұрын
Disagree. They're not masquerading as SAS, Ant, Olly and Foxy are openly SBS. The reason it's called "SAS" is because more of the public have heard of the SAS so it's more likely to draw in viewers. It's a TV show, that's the goal.

First heard of the SAS in Frederick Forsythe novels when I was in high school and college. From the books descriptions I just had to have a Browning High Power and a Remington 870 pump shotgun. I finally got both a few years later after college, college Army ROTC and a stint in the army.

Rusty, I failed continuation with 21 in 2012. However I've always held the regiment in high regard and respect everyone who's served tremendously. Thank you for taking the time to share your videos, I've been very interested in your perspectives and I'm glad to see you creating content, rather than simply consuming life. P.S. @@thirdpath2259 prepare well, do it for the right reasons. Hang on for dear life, even when you think you've already failed. Sometimes you'll be ahead, sometimes you'll be behind, the race is long, and in the end you'll realise it was only with yourself.

Disclaimer.. dont try this in a London tourist spot in case you attract the attention of armed Met police
@nt7594
@nt7594 4 жыл бұрын
Why you acting as if armed met are everywhere? Like 95% of police here are unarmed and armed met is only ever called when a major terrorist attack happens. Weeks later things go back to normal . And armed police are heavily regulated and they can’t use their arms unless it’s self defence or protecting another civilian. Hence why so many shootings, stabbings take place in London yet rarely does a person get shot by police. One example is that guy in ilford Lane running away from armed police after slapping one of them. Stop acting like something bad is gonna happen giving our police a bad name the most that’ll happen is a chat and you’re free to wear that shit this ain’t america

Did you train on any special foods for selection or was it just compo and cookhouse food, and do you call it the galley after doing the Marine course? The Royal Marines took over from us in Cyprus in 1974, and one of them asked me, where is the Galley? i said what? do you mean the Messroom or the Cookhouse and he said yes. i thought that was odd being on dry land.
