Yeah, the skinheads I knew in the 70s were into Ska and Reggae and were more like hippies than Neo-Nazis.

@@tomasom4497 this must be south England, in the 1970s in Scotland, the tabloids had labeled us , bootboys or bovver boy's, I was a regular at old Trafford back then, and the Stretford road end was nothing but bootboys, from all over UK and Ireland, in actual fact the first punk I ever saw was getting his head kicked in outside old Trafford, by a lad wearing a Abercrombie over coat , levi stay press, a ox blood doc martens, I never saw any skineads , nor did ever hear of skineads, untill around two-tone records, yes we wer in to , ska, reggae, northern soul, then for awhile you had, Slade bootboys, and all of us started growing longer hair, feather cuts like Brian Connelly from sweet, incidentally I was at the gig in Kilmarnock, when bootboys from Edinburgh kicked off with the Kilmarnock young team and the sweet got bottled off the stage, and the sweet wrote the song ballroom blitz about it, 1973 it was, and also that year Kung Fu was on the telly and a few shaved heads appeared, trying to achieve the chi quang kane look , original skin's is are a urban myth, IMO

@@JamesDickson-vs5of I'm an American. I have Scottish ancestry, but I've never been there. It was in the United States in the later 70s. We had our own scene, mostly influence by what was coming out of New York from clubs like CBGB, and I was mostly just into stuff like The Ramones and Iggy Pop and later groups like The Dead Kennedys. The Sex Pistols were great too. The skins over here were usually the guys that were getting their asses kicked. Things began getting less tribal by the 80s. Most of us just respected each other's space and got along and didn't get into stupid tribal crap after a while.
