hahaha ok that made me laugh :) But ya this is a pretty minor crime. IMO he should get probation. He probably wouldn't have even been charged if he wasn't the president's son. Not when he's already recovered from addiction, the gun is no longer in his possession (and only was for a very short period of time), and there were no other crimes related to the incident. If this were an average citizen I doubt they would waste their time prosecuting. That being said, he did do it. So since they did, the verdict is just. Now give him what any other first offender under the same circumstances would get...

Because that did happen years ago. Or was it different authorities that eventually charged him and not the local police that didn't follow up on it originally? And I am not debating whether or not he should have had a gun. Clearly he shouldn't have! I'm glad someone took it away from him. I don't think he's an angel. And I"m not making excuses for him. In fact I don't even like the guy. But at the end of the day, they are only going after him now because of who his father is. Even then, this crime usually only results in probation. Also many people in the field have weighed in on the comment threads of these videos also confirming it's usually probation for a first time offence. Maybe the cases you are looking at are not first time offenders with no criminal record, where there was no other crime (ie not a part of a burglary or anything) and where the gun has not been discharged? Because those factors would increase the sentence.
