Probably someone else has already said this, but it reminds me of Harrison Bergeron’ by Vonnegut. Also, of course, ‘The Marching Morons’ by Kornbluth, and the movie ‘Idiocracy’. Excellently read! Henry Slesar has not received the recognition he deserves! A master of the short story.

I like in the episode of the twilight zone Instead of the father telling dicky to go read his comics his dad says " why don't you go watch TV" while dicky is right in the middle of reading his comics . Suggesting his son watch TV in hopes it will make him dumber maybe .. lol . Great episode of the twilight zone

edward french It would be one way to keep the population sufficiently dim-witted, so that they did not think too seriously about what is happening to them. (Maybe this explains the falling standards in formal education? Perhaps this has already happened! It would, for instance, explain why those responsible for the 2008 financial crash were never brought to book.)
@Jopo12265 жыл бұрын
@@Offshoreorganbuilder our education system is developed to make people smart, but not too smart. Even evil empires need specialist. The thing lacking in our education is challenging our superiors. They don't teach that in school. I once had an issue with an employer with defamation and I had to pull intelligence out of my ass. I think challenging just to challenge is not needed, but challenging does serve a purpose.
