If I ever come across one of those at a reasonable price I’d be all over it. Living in an apartment 5 watt combos are right up my ally. With a little black box or attenuator.

The reissues seems pretty cool. I have a friend who can build a really small tube amp with less than 1 watt of power. Sounds really cool! I should have him make me one so I can crank it up. Good idea!

I was going to make a small correction about the valves, but then you found the tube chart! Great video and nice overview. I love being able to get the Fender sound at neighbour-friendly volumes. That and they take up hardly any space. They really are perfect home amps.

My first tube amp I got is a little boutique clone of a champ type circuit from Ear Fuzz effects. A guy I met from the Twin Cities area. I believe it is called an octal. Close to a 5 watt Gibson Skylark as well which is another winner. Anyway, its a mini stack head with two cabs with Weber speakers. I will never part with that amp. Holds its own with my Benson Monarch. Just is super cool! I love talking about amps! Thanks Brooke good stuff!

It's a ton of fun! Hard to beat a hand wired real tube amp. Sounds like you are set up pretty good!

Brook, I just recently put a deposit on a 65 bassmen head ( it’s a silver face ) so they must came out around then. Problem is I have no cabinet to play it through. I’d like to find an original from around the same time period but that won’t be an easy find. Any suggestions ? I eventually would like a get a Vintage Marshall too. I’d love to hear suggestions on desirable but not ridiculously priced models. I know , not easy.

I've got 4 Bassman Cabs! One is for sale. Also a guy in my area restored two old Bassman cabs. His name is Tony Nickels and he has a business called Sound Salvage. He'd be a good guy to talk to He can ship pretty affordably too

@@brookhoover1384 thanks Brook. I’m financially not ready to pull the trigger on one today since I still haven’t even paid for the head in full yet but if you don’t mind me touching base with you again on this topic when the time comes it would be appreciated. I’ll write Tony Nickels ( sound savage ) down and try not to lose it. Thanks again Brook. I knew you’d be the man to ask.

I bought a 57 reissue tweed fender champ 5 watt.. very pricy!.. I bought it because it was light and I can just grab it and go to Practice or whatever but I find it really boxy.. no reverb or tone knobs..
@brookhoover138410 ай бұрын
Those can take a while to get used to . Have you cranked it up much? Is it loud enough for band practice? I have a tweed Champ that was built for me but something does not seem right about it. Maybe we need to break in the speakers and just crank 'em up.
@julielocke-balish170710 ай бұрын
Yea someone else told me to crank it up on 7 or 8 … and I tried and it’s loud.. loud enough for band practice but I still prefer the blues jr. I just bought a Marshall DSL 40 combo today and wowee I love it with my Les Paul. First time that I’ve played a Marshall! Totally different from Fender that’s for sure. But I love both❤

Got a 1974 one in 1992 for $20, sold it 95 for $45 and thought I made out. Man....

I did a few of those! Bought an early 60's Jazz bass for 200 and sold it for 400. I thought I was pretty smooth! Ha ha!

@@brookhoover1384 enjoyed the video. I've never seen anyone just appreciating the design of a piece of gear. Well done! Subbed.

Thanks I think Fender amps are pretty darn attractive.
