@@SamyadeepPurkayastha Water Testing a Mask will not Damage the mask. As for washing it will depend on how you wash it - if you put it the washing machine I really doubt its a N95 Mask the Laundry detergent will destroy it.

You can't go by boxes or Logos , a lot of companies in China use boxes and logo's that doesn't mean they are really from those companies. That's why I was showing the test. A water test will not ruin your mask try it before you start to wear them to make sure they are ok.

@@patrickpghfan Back when it happened I did learn that N95 is the American medical standard (tried to get the KN95 to avoid taking the other from medical workers), but many (incl mine) are manufactured in China, & despite that the Dasheng brand, NIOSH & TC code all seemed authentic, because it came with the KN95 paperwork & boxes, doubts persisted. So nice to find a simple test that leaves them intact.

My god! That first mask with the metal clip is the mask that I have been buying from my local pharmacy for the last two months for ten dollars a mask. Another problem with that fake mask is that the straps tend to break. Do you know where i can purchase the real ones? This is the best video that I have seen on the KN95 mask! Excellent channel!

Spooktacular Wheatley I wear the KN95 3M’s with straps behind the head instead of over the ears. It’s not that it’s a better mask it’s I wear it for long periods of time between 7-10 hours and the behind the ears cause my ears to get sore. If I go into a store real quick I wear any of the KN95 masks as long as it’s not an extended period of time

@@rajjgaming5919 Pinch the Nose a Bit tighter and Raise the Mask so its closer to your eyes. That Usually Helps a Lot. If that Doesn't work you can use band clips and will go behind your head instead of around your ears. But I would try the first two items first. An Easy way to make band clips is use a couple of Large Paper clips and Attach the Ear Loops and until the mask reaches behind your head. - The Clips will cause the Bands to break a lot faster.

I wear 2 kn95’s together, they are comfortable and breathable enough to do it , I haven’t tested them but theoretically if I wear two fake ones together it would pass the water test by not dripping for several hours

I would test them just in case - its not only a layer issue its an issue of penetration. Examples would if you had liquid on them and you continue to breath is in, it will eventually get through the layers. I would recommend a Surgical mask over the bad KN95 mask to help; instead of two bad masks. Surgical masks should not leak either same as a valid KN95 or N95 mask.

And they are claiming that there is General purpose KN95 and a medical Grade KN95. Which the general purpose one still blocked 95% but would allow liquid seepage. But the medical version obviously will will not leak. But they’re saying that does not render the general purpose KN95 mask useless. Basically they’re saying if you’re not involved with the hospital or you’re not seeing sick people you do not need the medical version. Please give me your thoughts on this

The Natural Fire and Filtration Test are also good, fire not so much it’s just a test of materials examples would be copper masks would fail fire tests but they are good masks. As for filtration tests the water method is the best at home test you can do for that. If you have specialty equipment you can do a micro test but only labs have that. As for war band and strap I prefer head straps but that will vary from person to person

Ok I have two different brands, the one that Google says that is counterfeit held the drop of water for 5 minutes with no leakage at all could have lasted more but I just tested for 5 mins, and the one that I thought was legit started leaking slightly after 5 minutes which means I'm not buying that brand again. Now my question is... Should I wear these masks after I got them wet? @@Papapapapa78 if you wear masks in colder Climates such as the snow it builds condensation inside of the mask - which makes you mask wet in a matter of of an hr. I personally have experienced this and reused them - and they has passed the tests again and again. Also if this was the case in colder climates the masks would be useless unless it was design to withstand such treatment. A good mask should not just pass the water test a single time - if you let it dry out it should pass the test over and over again. If it doesn’t then I would consider it a single use mask

If you have two can you get 5 more? Then you can rotate them out “COVID” can’t live for more than 7 days, if not try the oven method 250 F for 20-30 mins. Or the best method a UV-C light if you have one

That is not a good mask, they should not leak at all after hours of time. If you can't return them I would use them once then throw them away those would definitely not be qualified as good masks - definitely do not use them in high risk area's. i.e Hospitals

The kn95 doesn’t even form a tight seal to your face. I would say it’s a Chinese knock off dust mask. Even the kn95 made by 3m on your face is loose fitting and isn’t form fitting.

Hey Daniel is water testing a KN95 mask really prove 100% it’s authenticity ? I guess my question is is it possible that if you water test a KN95 mask that does not leak water when testing even for hours and still won’t leak or absorb water that it is an authentic kn95 mask because it passes the water testing ?

The water test doesn't tell you if a mask is 100% authentic, but it will tell you if a mask is faulty. Its a good way to easily detect a fake mask - if it passes the water test its of at least decent quality.100% authentic masks must be tested with lap equipment which people will not have at home. You need a pressure and gas test, even 100% authentic masks have large variants, I have seen N95 Masks that drop to 70% after an Hour of usage. In short the water tests for poor masks, if it fails the water test I would not even consider it a KN95 mask

Hello, thank you for this demonstration, I have tested mine and I was very alarmed to realize that it leaks at the area where there is KN95 written and at the tip where there is the dashes that look like sowing, when I hold it like you did and leave it even for long it does not leak, but it leaks in the areas where there is that sort of indent like print/writing, does that mean I was unprotected while wearing it? I went to teach with it and there are thousands of cases in my country

Yes this means those masks were not correctly made, I would get a new set and stop using the masks that leak.

superduperboyx it’s a good test but the water test is better, it’s essential the same thing but water test is a better result for more filtration. You can get a mask that will pass the blow test but will fail the water test but not the other way around

superduperboyx Amun’s for testing I would recommend 5-10 mins that should be long enough. For the burning it’s a non woven material you have to ruin a mask to test that so I would skip that test. When the mask burns it should not create smoke it’s just a material test.

swifty1969 glad to hear they passed, some good new in all this craziness is always good :). If you got 20 use the rotation method you will get more uses out of them. Rotate them every 7 days

swifty1969 staying it and storing in a bag with Lysol will cause you to get 1-2 issues with each mask, if you do that let it air out. But you purchased enough that when you use one let us sit for 7 days after then You can use it again

I bought masks that weren't even classified as KN95, but did have the numerical GB2626-2006 that passed the water test and a brand labeled as KN95 that didn't pass the test. So should I use the ones that passed the test even though they aren't labeled as KN95? They look and feel just like other KN95's so am I good?

Daniel A thanks for the quick answer. Mine passed the smell test with oregano like pretty good. If i put it on the mask itself i could smell it very very very very very little. Almost nothing, and it‘s passing the water test pretty good, i think i‘m fine

Geoffrey Dietrich The mask shouldn’t be absorbing any of the water or leaking after the test just let it sit for a couple of hours and you are good to go. It shouldn’t damage the mask. I wouldn’t do it repeatedly but one time is fine

Hi almost every local store should be selling KN95 at this point - if you can't find any we have them for sale at RatedComics.com. as for KF94 masks I would recommend the same test, the head band ones are a bit harder to find but the they follow the same rules - a water test should tell you if they are good or not.

All 3M Factories are contracted by the US Government to sell to them directly to them or hospitals, even our contacts outside of the country are having issues getting KN95 Masks from 3M because of these contracts. If you Find a N95 Mask for Sale its almost 99% its a fake
