If you're trying to authenticate a DS game, pop it into a 3DS. The 3DS has better piracy detection than DS. Of course, you should look at all the signs, not just one test.

How do you test if your games are fake? Ive got a platinum and a sun plus a 3ds xl new, but no idea how to detect it.

@@gamesnig is there cuts on the top of the cartridge for your platinum and is there a circle o in the nintendo logo on the back also 3ds ones there isn't bootlegs of them yet I think

Also for Gen4-5 games, you could see that red sensor inside the cartridge for the pokewalker. Idk why Gen 5 games have it but I know Gen 4 it was for the pokewalker. Fake ones don’t even have a pokewalker option in the game

When 3ds games get as old as ds games, they're probably gonna get more fakes

I'd assume it's because most people just mod there 3ds with homebrew so there's really no reason to create fake games for it

So you left out two very important things about gen 4 games. First the top of the cartridge has a indent on top and the second is when held up to the light it shows a reddish color.

yea but even the fakes are getting so good that they even put the tm and have the same ntr code on the back what do you do if the fakes are getting better now In 2021 that there hard to tell do you just stop collecting these pokemon games this is why I do not want too get back into rebuying the old games I sold for cash to get new games back in the day now there getting good at counterfeiting only way I tell if I was told if you close the lid on your ds and if the music continues too play you could have a fake .

Funnily enough I found one for £35 in a store a couple of days ago, but I wasn't about to spend that much for that game since I've already played it (and because I prefer Investigations 2, which was sadly a Japan exclusive. I would have bought it of it was the second game, (if it was released outside of Japan of course))

All of this is really unnecessary. Just look at the side at the very top of the cartridge. if it has the line indention it is real. Period! If not it’s fake. Simple!
