@lennyislenny I would encourage all my students to draw the standardised graph as I believe it helps in the understanding of problems. Especially inverse types. The values in the table I believe are truncated rather than rounded.

Thanks very much. I have a couple of questions though. 1) Why did we need the second graph? Why not just do (68-62)/3 and then look up the value for 2 in the cumulative normal distribution tables? 2) Surely if you have a figure that has already been rounded to 4 dp will only become MORE inaccurate if you then round it to 3 dp. Or are the numbers in the table not actually rounded - just incompletely written? I think I may have answered my own question with 2 but would appreciate any help.

hello why not use table to find prob of x less than or equal to 67 because in the question, x less than 68 does not include 68 you must find prob up to but not including 68?

@SuperYtc1
@SuperYtc1 4 жыл бұрын
1 standard deviation and 2 standard deviations are common answers so you could memorise 97.7%. Else, you will need to use tables. It's not possible to calculate without using the tables. The tables have been solved by a computer for us.
