Excalibur is short, stubby, overweight and ugly, for a $63k dog he couldn't herd pigs let alone run a mile without collapsing. +jory franks I think were on the same page so I don't mean to keep going on. But I am passionate about these dogs and I understand that you want to breed so Ill just let you know what a smart and experienced dog owner or breeder will expect. When it comes to selecting a dog I have never purchased or even agreed to meet a pup unless both the dam and sire are on site. Ive even paid to have the sire present. I do this to check for inconsistencies and undesirable traits amongst the parents. I've wasted money doing this but saved myself time and money by weeding out inconsistencies before purchasing pups. The baddest dog I have ever seen, physical wise, was a whippet terrier. Back in 1978, my distance runner coach purchased the dog as a pup. As the pup began to mature, it would run with us in the morning. When the dog was over a year old, we were training for a marathon which was 10-12 mile run daily, exept sundays. That dog, Khigan, developed a massive chest beefy legs. You couldn't pinch and grab skin on him especially on the neck area because he was so pumped up

Julian Ortega you are absolutely right I breed pitbulls real pitbulls never had an incident with a human aggressive dog my pitbulls are very animal aggressive tho but that's from 100's of years of selective breeding it's embedded in their genetics. This is the number one reason real pitbulls have a bad rap because back yard breeders breed these so called pits that's crossed with so many human aggressive dogs then try and breed them back into an ABPT until it resembles a pitbull with a different colored coat not understanding that the dog they crossed it with genetics are still in their. I think its good ideas to keep prices high very high as it stops people from racing out buying a dog like this for a few dollars just because they have seen one on tv getting sick of it and discarding it at the local forest , tip or worse abuse and dog fights ! ! It stops people buying them for a decoration not love and commitment, I am a supporter of rescue British bulldogs in California Which is a fine example of Fad purchasing .!! now there put down daily because no one wants them due to the high care needed to keep a BB healthy and happy. My British Bulldog i paid $12,000 and the breeder knew i would look after it as a good breeder does an interview and research before letting any puppy go then a 6 mth check up to age two years !! that is how we do it in Australia .

I'm an english bulldog man my self but I love these dogs too...and as far as the price that was paid I'm sure this man had his reasons...just like he said "he had a vision", sometimes the price don't matter when u want something so bad and u have to have it...I've been in similar situations where I felt like I paid too much for certain things but the outcome turns out far more greater than the beginning and it looks like everything worked out pretty good for him...sometimes u just gotta give ur best shot

I hope this man and his dog are happy, I really do. But I don't understand why people pay so much for such highly modified domesticated wolves (dogs). You can get wonderful, normal, fit, outcrossed dogs at your local shelter or rescue for just a couple hundred dollars, and they'll be healthier, more active, and more agreeable with other dogs.

He's a beautiful dog, I'm just disturbed that the owner refers to him as "it." That leads me to believe Excalibur is only another possession to him....like his brand new paid off house, his BMW or his Porsche.

I don't know exactly how much he made and I'm not saying money should be the end all be all, but this dude has probably made 10 times what he put in to that dog. That's a very conservative estimate. But if you do the math and check his productions, check the pedigrees it's all there. BUT PLEASE LET ME STATE FOR THE RECORD I DON'T BELIEVE ANYONE SHOULD START BREEDING TO CHASE THIS KIND OF MONEY.

So, I am glad you love your dog, and he seems like a wonderful behavioral example of the breed. However, as a veterinary professional, he is not in good physical health in this video. To be fair, I didn't watch the whole thing because I just couldn't listen to how you thought this dog was so amazing right now. He was limping or had an incorrect gait. He looked as if he was favoring his right rear leg. He is overweight! He is a big headed beasty boy, true, and is going to be beefier, but he is overweight. Period. He needs more muscle on those rear legs, and the mass in his chest needs more muscle too. He looks like he is going to blow his cruciate any day. (If he already hasn't I would be surprised) Hopefully this guy has changed since this video.

For real I can't imagine paying $63000 for a dog but I can't lie those pups grew up to be great looking dogs. I'm just happy dude was able to bounce back after being $90000 in the hole because his family would have turned on him if they all went broke over a dog.

I'm not suggesting that his story is common. I'm just saying it's his story. He took a chance and it paid off in a major way for him. Many thousands of people, I'm not calling them breeders, but people have tried to do what he did and failed. I don't think he's an idiot, he worked hard and got lucky. HIS STORY IS NOT UNLIKE MANY OTHER GREAT AMERICAN SUCCESS STORIES. BUT AGAIN I DON'T THINK THAT DOING WHAT HE'S DONE IS REASONABLE OR WISE. HOWEVER, IT DID WORK FOR HIM.

Step 1: Go to a rescue shelter and pick out a mutt you like. 2: Pay the adoption fee of $40 and take him home. 3 (optional) donate the tens of thousands of dollars you saved to the shelter so that they can rescue more dogs. Step 4: Live a great life with your dog free of health problems... This one is obviously going to develop arthritis and is already overheating in the video.
