It's not the warframe that has character but the person operating it. Like imagine mid fight raiden finds out that a child was piloting this humanoid death maschine and would feel so conflicted to fight properly like that time in MGR were Sam was making Raiden question his moral code and at the end Raiden would embrace the ripper. Just saying that it would have made the activation of Ripper mode so much more impactfull as if he was giving up part of his humanity so that he could bring himself to fight a child to the death.

Honestly, I adore this episode for mainly two reasons. One, it shows off one of my favorite video games of all time, so much so I got excited hearing Wiz talk about that Atlas Feat. Second, it shows Wiz and Boomstick's characters really well, outside of Wiz explaining the lore or Warframe, it does show off the personalities of both hosts really well. I don't know man, this episode was really fun for me and I'm glad that this season has been going great so fair

I love how the sidebar comes back over and over to clarify that the infinite ammo bandana is actually cannon. Also my only real problem with the verdict from what little I've played of Warframe is I don't remember warframes being able to use so many weapons AT ONCE. Like, they have a huge arsenal to choose from but I only remember being able to use one gun, one sidearm and one melee during a mission whereas Riden uses magic or something to carry all his weapons at once.

Warframes can have 1 primary, 1 secondary, and 1 melee. Excalibur had 2 melees (skana and glaive) and one secondary (twin vipers).

But they didn't use so many weapons, they used one melee, one side arm, one rifle and the archwing which comes with its own weapons and abillites, and ofcourse the exalted blade which is a ability not a weapon per say. All of this is possible in the game. Edit: They didnt use archwing weapons he used his primary he later used to win the fight

Though they do say they go through "all the possibilities" so I don't feel that a single weapon that a combatant may or may not have at the time the fight happens is entirely valid.

@@ninjawiz7932 Yeah but hes got space magic my dude and survived anti matter bombs in lore, they even said if he was even 1% the strenght of another warframe Atlas he would still be 4000 times stronger than Raiden, and all warframes play in the same ballpark so its possible hes even stronger. And shure that he so happened to have the exact counter, but that isnt the only counter, there are other bat shit crazy wrapons even more op by shere destrucrive power. They even said that all tenno are profficient with all ther weapons. And on the topic on the TENNO raiden littereally doesent have any weapon that could kill the operator piloting excalibur. I think unless you give excalibur the most basic bitch weapons he would win almost always simply because raiden would get overwhelned eventually during the fight. He is a very earthly being while excal has got space magic.

This fight was easily one of my personal favorites this season. From the banter between Wiz and Boomstick to the incredible fast pace of the fight itself and especially the track, any problems I had were overshadowed by many of the positives. Even though I like Raiden more, It doesn’t ruin the fight for me (also, Don’t worry. I don’t think the fight is biased). 9/10. Though, I understand why you didn’t like the episode as much and I won’t judge you for it. Nice review, Nem. Hope you’re doing well.

I was pretty disappointed by Raiden losing, but I'm willing to look past it because the episode in and of itself was pretty darn good. Sure, sponsors can be a little suspicious at times, but if one of the hosts says loud and clearly that they have flat out denied sponsors just so the research can be accurate, then the people who say that they were paid off are clearly just salty Raiden fanboys. And I say this as someone who loves Raiden and Metal Gear Rising.

As an avid player of both series... Raiden could have gotten curbstomped if endgame gear was introduced. Seriously, in warframe if anything tries to kill you, you just say no and they can't do anything about it. There's hundreds of other ways to trivialize the fight but in the end they opted to make it a more fun fight. Warframe is on par with Dr Who and Warhammer 40k in terms of timey-wimey bullshit to cheese out wins.

The set up for this episode of "two guys smashing action figures together" was actually fantastic. It was weird to get no numbers in the Excalibur portion, but numbers almost immediately with Raiden. Finally, Atlas showing up at the end is a reference to how some players will focus on the objectives, while others fight mobs or something. It's a multi-player game after all.

I know this is kinda out of nowhere but I’ve been waiting for a chance to say this and it feels like a fine enough time given we have 2 video game characters here. Has anyone else been disappointed by the severe lack of video game characters the past 3 seasons? Season 7 had only 5 out of its 40 combatants (counting Red and Blue as single combatants and excluding the 7 BR) being from video games; Sindel, Goro, Machamp, Sabrewulf and John Talbain. Season 8 had it a little better with 8 out of 32 combatants; King Mickey, Shadow, Heihachi, Geese, Link, Cloud, Akuma and Shao Kahn, but it still felt light for me. It’s probably because Akuma vs Shao Kahn was the only video game related fight in the second half of the season, and while I personally enjoy it, it’s easily the worst fight of the season from a technical standpoint. Then Season 9 comes and so far we’ve had a grand total of 1 video game character in Jinx, not counting the bonus episode since it wouldn’t happen under normal circumstances. And between all three of these seasons, League of Legends is the only new video game franchise introduced. I know a lot of people are just gonna say “well that’s because of the oversaturation of Marvel and DC” and yeah there’s definitely truth to that, but I don’t think it’s that simple. Anime has gotten plenty of representation, including 8 new franchises across the 3 seasons, so why have video games been hosed? It’s been somewhat disappointing for me as someone who loves videos while only being pseudo-interested in Marvel and DC and not into anime. Has anyone else felt the same way?

As cool as the concept of this fight was, I think if they had used Excalibur Umbra instead of normal Excal it could have been a lot more intersesting. Having Umbra with his slightly more unique moves and the possibility to disconnect from his operator and basically go berserk would have been really interesting. Still a 9/10 for me tho

Having the Operator and Warframe fighting alongside each other would have been AWESOME, but also made this into a massive stomp. The recent rework kinda made Operator abilities ridiculously powerful, and depending on which school the Operator goes with they could probably one-shot Raiden easily. Not to mention that the Operator's Void Beam ignores resistances, and they can become completely invisible and intangible.

(not that they were paid to kill Raiden for Excalibur. Cause really if you think that you really don't understand behind the scene issues with stuff like this) But outside that this episode was fine but it's not something I think I'll go back to outside of solo listening to the Track A decent 7/10

In my opinion this was the first or second best episode of the season. Sure there wasn’t that much character but the action was really good in my opinion. Probably the best sfm fight in the last few seasons of death battle in competition with Mikey vs yoda and in my opinion this one has better choreography. Overall this is the REAL season finale. 9.5/10 crazy it’s still the worst metal gear fight tho.

I honestly thought the episode was just okay personally. The stuff between Wiz and Boomstick was great and their inclusion in the fight was really funny, I just found the animation and some other smaller stuff a bit lacking. What I DIDN'T think was that they were paid off in order to make Excalibur win. I genuinely thought Excalibur had the edge during the analysis section with its larger variety of weapons and that I figured a sword of light would cut a lot better than a high-vibration blade.

Raiden is definitely a cool character, and honestly i feel they did a decent job with him. heck they gave him the infinite ammo bandanna. (should've given him the ultimate power of the Sombrero but...) Heck i wouldn't have guessed him to be nearly that fast and I think a decent number of arguments could be made about how he could potentially beat Excaliber. However, as a Warframe and Metal Gear fan I will say this fight was a lot more one sided. for example, they never talked about some of the damage types in the fight. just to name a few, Corrosive damages armored easier, Heat which does a ton of HP damage, Slash damage directly targets HP even if they have a shield or some protection (there are only some bosses who are able to resist this, but this is usually only for phase changes, however the argument could be said that thick enough armor is enough to stop the damage, like with the Boss on Mars.) An example would be my Excalibur's sword that can one shot most bosses and can kill Sentients with just a couple hits. Sentients become immune to damage the more you attack them, they can be reset by a couple things, but the weapon does so much damage it kills them before they can adapt. One final note, pure stats against each other. Excalibur was stronger, tougher, and actually faster. while he was one of the first warframes made he is still one of the first 3 you can choose. meaning you have him throughout the game. the character in the cutscene that did the lightspeed attack is the first boss... he comes back later as a Spector in the void. but you must beat him to progress. so that means you must beat someone who can casually cast beams of light as a weapon. later on, the bosses and even the grunt enemies get much faster. some can even teleport. The Kuva Liches for example can throw black holes at you. and you must even fight other frames. I'm essentially just trying to say Raiden was beyond outmatch. if you wanna say Deathbattle was paid off then fine. that is YOUR opinion. but Raiden gets destroyed here in too many ways to count. let alone the fact that the HF blade, while amazing, is nothing like the Excalibur's which is pretty much an electric lightsaber. which funny enough means the HF couldn't cut the sword happy to debate if anyone wants to

Afterall he is technically one of the first frames, but he did have to beat that boss later on. other enemies have faster attacks that would require a greater reaction time. Also, while Raiden is clever, the Void children are led by the Lotus, and she has been doing this stuff for a long time. The void children who control the Warframes are also capable of leaving their armor to fight. Said children can shoot lasers, teleport, become intangible/invisible, and based on the school the player chooses they can give the Warframe near infinite energy, much higher defense and offence values, and can strip the enemy of their armor. there are dozens of unique abilities that the schools can give. I'm not trying to say Raiden had no chance, but more times than not Excalibur could take the win. BUT I will say that one-gun Deathbattle used to say Raiden's sword wouldn't work was bs XD. like I know that gun exists, but no one is ever using that thing. heck my weapon is a Kuva Chakkura that can take down boss fights in just a few hits. i feel bringing that one specific gun out of the 500-ish he has, was a little odd.

I really like how they made this seem like a spontaneous argument between Wiz and Boomstick, with them having little back and forths during the analysis. I'll admit though that the fight didn't really impress me. While I understand that Excalibur doesn't have a personality of its own, that still meant there wasn't much characterisation during the fight, even with Raiden. Flashy action is always nice, but its usually the characters and their back and forth both battle-wise and personality-wise that sell a fight for me.

I find that what got me was that the analysis didn't really sell Excalibur's power level. The analysis didn't suggest that he could beat Raiden to me, I'll admit I was biased but I'll expect that most people were since MGR is so much more popular compared to Warframe. Only from reading comments by Warframe fans did I realize that Exca is in a whole different tier, fighting evenly against characters who wield antimatter, black holes, grey goo, and other kinds of sci fi weapons that are completely out of Raiden's league. I think that if the analysis had explored the powers that Exca goes against in his home series a bit more then people would have to be out of their minds to question the outcome.

My opinion is that they chose Raiden for clicks(because of his massive surge in popularity and the fact he's a robot ninja like Excalibur.) and then had to compensate for how vastly outclassed by Excalibur. Not a bad battle but kinda poor choice of match up. I'm not saying they were bribed or anything but someone who knows about both games it's not even a close match. It's a cool what if but Raiden has a very very slim chance of winning under extreme unlikely circumstances. Still liked the battle though.

me and someone had a conversation on twitter. it was not an argument by any means but we talked about someone who was claiming that Death Battle was biased due to sponsorships and Excalibur's victory. We both thought that person was stupid and I said this. "Death Battle can't really win with sponsored matches, character loses and no one will care about said sponsorship, character wins, it's biased and the whoever owns the character paid to have that character win." I still stand by that statement since most people only care about Death battle for the winner (which is stupid but eh)

Honestly I liked this episode quite a bit. It was interesting to see these two characters I knew nothing about fight, and get to learn about them. The beginning rundown did kinda make me feel like Raiden should've won, but when it was explained in the conclusion it made sense. Overall pretty good episode, although I'm more interested in playing Metal Gear for the first time, than trying out Warframe

I do think Raiden's strategic ability was somewhat underplayed (I.E. he would notice Excalibur's physical strength when parrying and then make a point to keep his distance), as well as his strength considering the Metal Gear being broken isn't his greatest feat and it was also with a weaker body than he has by the end. I think if those were taken into account it would even the fight out a fair bit. As for the whole sponsor thing obviously they weren't paid off, but I do think it may have slightly influenced their creative direction without realizing. One way or another still a damn good episode

i hate the fight being an avid fan of warframe only for one thing and they mention it in the commentary umbra excal would have been better agaisnt raiden he doesn need the child to move and attack and do abilities and over all he has his own sword. the fact they took 500 weapons into account saying yea warframes can use all these was what pissed me off they didnt go with the loadout he uses in his cinematics most the time which are paris kunai skana and thats it they also gave him 4 weapons and CHOSE to give him the only weapon that could counter the vib blade over all it while not being forced feels one sided to an extreme degree cuase they said so basicly i bet the people who were talking to them from warframe dev teams thought they would go with specific weapons and not all 500 not to mention the weird shit with lotus "overloading" the warframe isnt a thing she can do nor has ever done and really hammered in that outside help which for death battle should be an illegal move according to there own rules this isnt like the sam vs snake or the batman vs spider man 99 where its a mentor or helper on both teams making it fair it was just lotus BSing the fight giving the warframe things they dont have or things she cant do they dont always have access to there archwings when in cramped places including in city style places and even in open jungles you cant use them there only in the open world areas that are literally VASTLY open like we talking a building every 100 miles and if you are in a close area it will deactivate automatically. now it didn't matter much for the fight but it was still stupid to see. if they would have done umbra vs raiden it would have been an amazing death battle cause it could have focused more on the mods on some ones weapons and frames rather then just giving them the weapons they need exactly to win the fight this is the only issue i saw with jinx vs harley is them taking items that are PLAYER CHOICE and just giving them whatever they would need to kinda counter the fight it seemed unfair for that fight and i love jinx but i feel the feats of a character should out way the items a player picks. and for the mods it wouldn't have been as bad since the mods they should focus on would be his sacrificial mods that are on umbra they arnt a choice item they are canon to be on him and his weapons by default. it was a fight that left a bad taste in mine and my friends mouth even if it wasn't swayed by the money it wasnt fairly matched either by no means if they did switch it all around and didnt just give him what he needed a warframe cant carry all 500 weapons with them nor can they be airdropped in to help you at any point in time if we take the frame and give him his default set up you have not going intentionally counter weapons for an opponent he didn't even know he was going to be fighting he lost the fight skana would be useless the kunai and paris are crap and his light blade would drain his energy the frame would be destroyed and the tenno would or should fall out of the frame and left it as a fight with them and if they wanted the tenno to win after that using the void powers they have i would have been fine with that cuase tenno have a different slew of powers like being able to faze through attacks and use dashing and shit i mean hell when they are using the faze abilities they are invisible being a perfect setup to using a super death beam attack at Raiden

His analysis was a joke (just compare to how dense it was on his Wolverine fight) and although he used far more stuff since his last fight, they still brought him just to die for what? Advertising? What a waste (not saying he lost because advertising. As for the treating Raiden like a joke, I feel that analysis-wise, but for density of the research, I feel it's completely warranted to make an analysis segment shorter for return combatants. It's very likely that most people who are watching for Raiden already watched the other, and for those who haven't, they aren't missing out on anything important. As for the fight though, you can't not admit that Raiden just does do some pretty funny and wack shit in MGRR, so I don't see much issue there.

My main issue with this fight is just how unremarkable it felt. So much was on the screen and yet it didn’t feel like anything was happening. Boomstick trolling Wiz and Excalibur is easily the most memorable moment and I don’t think that’s a good thing. Combine that with Ripper mode being treated as a standard transformation instead of an impactful psychological break and this is one of the more lackluster fights of the season. Also the analysis focused way too much on being a Warframe ad instead of actually focusing on Excalibur. I feel like I gained nothing from watching it that I wouldn’t have learned from just watching the fight.

The first time I watch this episode and the debate between Wiz and Boomstick, I dont know why, but it gave me chills, like just seeing this two debating both Excalibur and Raiden was really fun and the part where they are talking about the speed of each character was the funniest part of the episode for me It really is a good bonus episode and a good way to end the first half of the season But Jocelyn wasn’t in the fight as it was promoted at the end of Bob a Feet vs John Yautja, lame

I mean, it was either that or Genji... and that would have been a complete stomp. I was rooting for Raiden (expecting Excalibur) and I want to believe they got their stats and calcs correct (they probably did)... but there is that small voice calling out the sponsorship in this. Yes, I want to believe they were unbias when it came to the conclusion, but it would be easier to believe if they weren't showing up the promotion at every point possible. As for Senator Armstrong, I am still waiting for a decent opponent. Someone mentioned a JoJo character (forgot their name already), most common one is Saxton Hale (which is a mismatch.) Oh well... at least Jocelyn is back. I don't know what to expect for the second half (Duke vs Sam) but it will be here eventually. Until then, more Pest Control grinding.

Why do you never seem to criticize calcs? The way Wiz and Boomstick saw the words “giant asteroid” and just immediately assume it’s the same size as the one that killed the dinosaurs, with nothing whatsoever hinting at that comparison in the lore, just seems wrong to me. And I hate how they ONCE AGAIN do the bullshit trope of “this guy blocked/dodged a laser beam, so he HAS to be moving close to lightspeed!” Because again, they don’t get that seeing where someone is aiming, and reacting before they fire, is NOT the same as reacting to the beam itself. But that’s not even the worst example, just look at Jonathan vs Tanjiro. Like, REALLY? They have shown favoritism to certain franchises before, namely RWBY and this channel has even talked about how Ruby beating Ragna was forced onto the animator and also the RWBY ad draped over Tifa's corpse. My main pet peeve with this episode is that Raiden could never kill Warframe because Warframe is a robot controlled by a child from another planet. I didn't notice until they pointed it out at the end but that's a real mood kill for me. It's a shame because other than that and a few researches contradictions, I actually liked this episode.

I should probably mention a few things to clear a bit up. 1) I myself find this episode in the middle. I adore the characterization of the hosts and love the variety and track, but the action itself feels a bit lacking and I don’ like Raiden’s portrayal, especially his last line. That, and another issue popped up that hindered me. So, uh, 5/10 because it has high highs and low lows. 2) Some people have noted that they loathe the episode because it feels like a disservice to Metal Gear. Not outright sayign the verdict is biased, but rather the constant jabs and use of memes from the series dampens its reputation when against the stoic nature of Warframe. Sounds weird, but please try to understand where they’re coming from. 3) He’s called Chad for a reason. 4) Warframe wasn’t used just to steal a win, Warframe was used to excite people on a new series. It’s an advertisement, sure, but Death Battle has been an outlet for introducing series to people. *looks at BlazBlue* BlazBlue, for example, became a lot more popular after Ragna vs Sol, so it at least leaves people grateful for the introduction into a series they might learn to like and/or love.

I will go on record here saying I love Warframe I enjoy the shit out of that game. I also really like MGRR and the memes. So here's what I have to say. It feels like a warframe ad more than an in-depth explanation of what Excalibur can do (Just describing more how warframe the game is than Excalibur specific feats) They also do not mention weapon modding or warframe modding or arcanes. They are missing a lot of shit that makes a warframe insanely powerful. Excalibur could take the win but they needed to mention a metric shit ton more stuff before giving him that win. Also mentioning the amount of weapons means shit to me. To make it fair I would have picked the most common load out based on player data. Like you only carry 3 fucking weapons. NO ONE USES GALAXONM BECAUSE IT'S A SHIT WEAPON IN GAME. Also using ATLAS (the strongest physically) warframe to scale EXCALIBUR the slicey warframe feels genially disingenuous. Anyone who has played and had like 5 warframes (Granted that does take at least 4 days most likely longer) knows that warframes vary by extreme margins. Using "warframes fight each other therefore they all have insane durability" is not accurate to gameplay in the slightest and yet again feels disingenuous. Saying they have better tech is ignoring a huge part of the lore which says they purposely went to use primitive weapons to fight the sentience In short Excalibur with the proper set up would Fuck up Raiden easy and take virtually no damage from him but it doesn't feel like they mentioned the right stuff for why Raiden should have lost.

Player data isn't a good idea. They made excal scale to 1% of atlas and was 4000x stronger than raiden, anything lower than that would be beyond disingenuous. The durability scaling holds up in lore and gameplay, lorewise all warframes are said to have been reconstructed with "untold resilience" and as for gameplay (and still lore) the warframes go to different planets with varying atmosphere and environmental conditions; just surviving would grant insane feats far above anything in the mgs verse, such as having the strength to bullet jump on jupiter or not being crushed when being submerged in Uranus. Saying they have better tech doesn't ignore the lore as the primitive weaponry was specifically against the sentients, the current game wouldn't have that narrative restriction.

It just left a really bad taste in my mouth. It was like the advertisement for Rwby volume 3 in the Yang vs Tifa fight. To anyone that would still think that Warframe won because Warframe paid them. Excalibur here is nerfed. Each swing of his Exalted Blade produces an unblockable and penetrating slash of energy. (Like a Getsugatensho attack from bleach but spammable.) Here, they didn't show it. The twin vipers are shitty weapons that eats through ammo quickly. The Glaive is a weak weapon. Except the other glaives that can explode. I haven't tried that weapon yet so I don't know if they could explode willingly. But if a modded exploding glaive has mods, consider Raiden's armor be lessened like a tissue paper. And that's just one of the effects a modded glaive has. The Skana is tied with another sword for the weakest sword in the game. When Excal began to fall and made his hands clasp and open together, Raiden should've died on the first swing. (That's his Exalted Blade being summoned fourth) *Raiden. Is doomed to die in this fight. Despite the nerfs that should put him into an advantage.*
