This kind of incident shouldn't be treated as an "accident" It's 100% carelessness and should be dealt with accordingly.

thats why it IS treated as an accident, that bridge woulda been shut for hrs while a structural engineer was assessing it the excivator arm needs major repairs and old mates goin back to learn how to load up again… Tell me how many years experience do you have loading and unloading machines????

Wow.... hubby and I always give truckers respect. I realise it isn't easy when you have ignorant f**kwits on the road. I think there should be more awareness of trucks & their drivers on TV, so people understand what a trucks' capability is & isn't. Luvya guys.... thanks for keeping our goods arriving smoothly.

Sometimes the sign post drops into a larger diameter post fixed in the ground. Then they hammer a tapered pin with a hooked top into the post hole to secure the sign post. I'd assume the hooked top of that pin caught the sidewalls as they rolled over.

Ok Thank you.

Some are held in with a removable pin, so the post can be removed, temporarily, allowing larger loads to pass over the median. If that pin has been replaced with one that is way too long or a long bolt... Pop goes the weasel! Or, a few weasles, in this case.
@spacemanmat
@spacemanmat Жыл бұрын
@@KevinD_33x150those pins also make it much easier to put the sign back in when someone kills it.

there was a story years again about a stocky looking for the smoother run over a cattle grid ; miss-judged it and took out most tyres on the left hand side of a road train ---- hope it wasn't a triple ! another stocky/grid drama up Clermont way ; cattle grid collapsed and become wedged under the prime mover --- I was on the same job

Have a Google of the M5 Bristol tipper crash! The blokes managed to drive along with the bed up and ripped it off the truck and imbedded it into a overhead gantry sign! As for the people in that car, talk about luck!!

I did 3x tyres one day. Turning into a roadhouse in the middle of a town. I had it all timed perfectly - if the car coming in the opposite direction maintained speed. They saw what I was intending, and for shits and giggles slowed down at the pen ultimate moment. I was committed and had to swing behind the d*ckless POS and in so doing nearly smacked the A trailer headboard into a new fence on top of a retaining wall. So there I was with a line of traffic behind me, and me blocking the other lane as well. What to do? I know, I'll squeeze down that small gap in the vacant block next door between the fence and that thar tree!! LOL. I nose it in and there is a car parked in there FFS! I didn't see it because the fence height. I drive in and the B trailer tyres hit the end galvanized retaining wall channel that holds the concrete sleepers in place. One minute you're driving along, the next well .... I feel very sorry for that poor bastard at the start, not so much for the second one though and yes I have hit an overhead object. It was very large tree branch on a Plane tree covered in foliage hanging over the left lane on a narrow road into a factory. A local council had repeatedly been warned about it and did nothing apparently. IIRC the insurance company ended up extracting payment or part payment from them (or the rate payer's insurance). It was a Tautliner. The damage was substantial. Clipped it on the top left corner. The whole roof was pushed back about half a metre. The poor bloody ops manager got in more trouble than me because another of our trucks hit it two years earlier and he hadn't told me when going to xyz you need to stay out of the left lane. The big big boss said, "No, don't be sorry this isn't your fault. I issued the ops manager written instructions to warn all drivers." I felt bad because I was the one that did it not him but it would've helped if I knew. On the other side of the coin, the ops manager was a tool only surpassed by the big big boss. I reckon if he was drug tested he'd test positive for smoking the glass barbecue. Even though the big big boss was a man, he might've benefited from a gynecologist I reckon, so I'm not surprised the ops manager didn't tell the drivers. Thing is we never went there much and during winter you can see the branch. It only could happen if it was summer, there was a car coming in the opposite direction, and you passed at the exact same position as the tree. It did have lots of gouges on it. It's gone now that tree branch.
