For co-authoring does everyone need an Office 365 subscription, or just the document creator?

The document creator must have an Office 365 subscription to use real-time co-authoring. However, if the recipients don’t have a 365 subscription, they can use Excel Online to view and edit the document. Although Excel Online is free, it has limited features compared to the full version of Excel. Hope this helps!

I need to use co-authoring with a file kept on a shared drive in my business. Can I re-use the same process or will it be different then?
