How to find out what is the problem is if you have low pressure from the pump. This will show you the most common problem with the pump and whether to replace it or if a repair is possible for the Devilbiss pump.

You got me pointed in the right direction! Found a busted O-ring on the one way valve. Replaced O-ring, put her back together, and Yahtzee!!! We now have a working pressure washer 😁 Thank you so much for making the only video I could find on this exact machine with original pump. You are Awesome 😎 BTW, mine is showing signs of deterioration on the same castle.

Great video. I have the exact pump, same problem. the one way valve is not moving, when I try to take them out, I first hammer them in try to loose them and broken the black plastic under it. Can I use the pump without that three one way valve? I saw the top 3 screw nuts, under them looks like have one way valve in it.

If the valve does not move then there is dirt or something in it. But I believe all 3 valves have to work or it will lose pressure. Or if the valve is jammed, the pressure will have no where to go and it will not run or not work either. Either way all valves need to be operational.

Hi Paul - have the same Excell 2400 (ECH2425) ... managed to misadjust the unloader valve (wasn't thinking). Cranked it up and turned water on and had Big Bang. Had water leaking around the plate. Pulled the end off which gets to the journal plate. One of the bolts had aluminum bits in the threads (overpressure from the misadjusted loader valve I'm assuming), two bolts looked OK, and one was corroded (lower right bolt) . One way valves move as yours do. Two of the three o rings look like they have been in a war zone - frayed - assuming from the overpressure. Pistons move fine and seem solid - but the sleeves for the pistons also are removable - should they be? It looks like the irregular gasket is available, but I don't know the exact size of the o rings ... were you able to sleuth this? Thanks!

What happen if it leaks water from the black tank?
@paulcolton5213

I don't know of a black tank that relates to the pump. The only black tank I know of is on the engine and that is the fuel tank that has gas in it. If it is leaking gas, I would replace it.

It seems like the unloader valve is stuck and rusted on mine. Any ideas on how to fix this? It seems like you say that its been discontinued which means no more parts for the pump so I'm not able to source an unloader valve.. Is the only option to fix this to completely replace the pump with some other unit?

Why do you think the unloader valve is bad. What is the actual symptom. I don't understand the rust because the pump head is all brass as so is the valve. Brass does not rust. There is no metal on the pump, the rest is aluminum. However a big wrench should un-screw the valve. It should not be tight as it just should just be snugged up. The valve comes apart completely for cleaning. Looked to me the only thing that could break is the spring in it. But did you remove the pump head and check the items I indicated in the video?

I have oil leaking out of my orange cap. And have no pressure. Any idea?

Mostly likely the one way check valves are not working so it makes no pressure. And also it's possible there is back pressure in the case which might push the oil out of the cap. Going to need to pull it apart for a good visual inspection. I would take a look at the un-loader valve assembly.

Wanting to know the year the EXHA2425 Pressure Washer was built-in

I really don't know. I have had it for maybe 20 years but really lost track. Got it from Home Depot used on a return probably but was pretty new. Sorry I don't have an exact answer for you.

Really enjoyed your video. I have the same washer. I took the 18219 pump completely apart and cleaned. I'm ready to reassemble and viewed all my photos. The six seals I removed are confusing me. 3 are soft and 3 are hard. Can you tell me which three go into the brass seals next to the head? Thanks.

From what I remember, the soft "O" rings went where the pistons are and you can see them move in and out. They fit in that little channel around the piston. The other rings you spoke of I don't know because I did not deal with them so they must be from the other area where you got them. I only had the head of the pump off, that's as far as I needed to go.

Thanks Paul! I did find a clearer diagram which I will compare to actual seals orientation. I did submit a request to Devilbiss for guidelines. Take care!

@@paulcolton5213 hi, while waiting to hear back from Devilbiss I studied the photos I took during disassembly. One of the photos show the head facing down with the pistons showing through. This is where you fixed one of the broken nipples with a modified screw. Inside the brass seal casing with the notch is the pliable seal. The flat part of the seal goes into the brass casing. Once in you’ll see the edge of the pliable seal. It has maybe 6-8 fine rings on the surface. Very different from the other three hard seals. So if you ever have to completely disassemble the pump section hopefully this will help you and others that want to salvage our vintage pumps. Take care!

@@paulcolton5213 one last update. While putting the part of the pump where the oil goes I noticed that one of the 18219 devilbiss pump bearing thrusts was missing 5 tiny rollers. I did not see inside so they probably went out with the old oil. So it looks like a new pump is needed. I did rebuild the carburetor on the Honda GC160 engine. A real bear putting back together but started right up. Now just needs a pump to go with it!
