My wife and I was there a few months ago and let me tell you this video does not do this place the full justice it deserves, and to be honest no video could. You had to experience this place, it was great. We were in room 7018 which was in the first floor in the corner and we never had a hard time getting into the pool or it being over crowded. Food was wonderful for the most part, but you are not goin to please everyone and I had a couple meals that were not that great, but that’s the beauty of room service, I boy did you it late at night. My wife and I took long walks around the resort at night, all the lit pools, beautiful lights, and the beach late at night made for a very romantic and peaceful and of each day. It is hard to tell you about this place, there is so much to do there you will stay entertained the entire time you’re there.

I could not even find any English only or American English only channels, we used or phones and VPN to access what little TV we watched, was to busy doing other things in the room for that. Can watch TV all I want when home, did not spend thousands of dollars to watch tv.

The temps still get in mid 80s in December so I would imagine it’s definitely still swimmable. August was the hottest month so I imagine December is amazingly comfortable. Let us know what you choose! 🤗🤗

Hyatt has amazing reviews and I love how it’s in hotel zone and the beach looks incredible! I think the only drawback for us, is that since it’s in hotel zone, it seems more of like a high rise resort, with less beautiful landscaping and what not!

Which parts were excellence club only?

@starkilla7777 The excellence club has the one restaurants (The Magna) and bar (Celio) and they offer special meals and breakfast buffet. There’s also 2 of the pools there exclusively for excellence club members as well as a secluded area of cabanas on the beach. Premium upgraded liquor in your room and daily petit fours and champagne. So a mix of some exclusive areas and amenities.

Highly recommend the private catamaran rental! We did this. You can be on a captained catamaran over beautiful crystal blue water and enjoying the sun with a drink in hand!

Great video! At the 9:05 mark there are some rooms with daybeds along the pool. Do you know if those are the swim-up category? Any swim-up I've stayed in has stairs right into the pool from the room.

Hello from my home in stunning Ucluelet, British Columbia, Canada...I need real candid advice...I'll be traveling to this resort for 10 nights this December...desperately seeking a QUIET room location away from bars, employee entrances, seaweed removal early in the morning...I watched your review!! Here’s the great thing about this place, even thought it’s adults only, at about 11pm all the last bars start closing. The better part is the room we had, the pool bar and all closes by sunset and the restaurants outside that building isn’t open late. There are other 2 story suites that don’t face anything. But again, after a certain time, about 9, the only noise is over by the main stage and main bars still open over that way. We also never heard any noise on the beach in the morning yet it was always clean. It’s naturally quiet place. So relaxing. The concierge is so accommodating and can’t imagine they wouldn’t place you exactly where you want. 🤗🤗

Hello! Thats a good question. Yes they are right next door to each other and same brand, but I’m not sure if it’s interchangeable like that. The concierge was so helpful before and during our trip. I’m sure if you call or email they’ll be able to get you that info!

Hi @andrea25477 The rooms the EPM (adults) is more chic I’d say where Finest is more generic. The bed posts, the mirrors, the overall decor is definitely more geared towards adults where the Finest rooms look more along the lines of a standard hotel room.

Note: You do not need to book reservations for any restaurants, except for the hibachi. You also do not need to pre book spa appointments, you can walk in, but when you book ahead of arrival you save 20%! 🎉

@carisware8943 The concierge will do anything you need! They will set up spa services for you or any activities or excursions you want. Including airport transfer. The only restaurant you need reservations for is the Hibachi, but they do that for you too!

@therivers1757 You do have to pay for the spa services. Those and excursions like then catamaran we rented were extra. There are also plenty of daily activities included at the resort like tequila and cocktail tastings, guacamole making class, yoga, pool aerobics…the list goes on and one and on.

How far on the beach can you walk? Is there anything you can walk to when you are off property?

It’s a nice walk, but it’s not very long of a walk down the beach, and the stuff along the beach are other resorts. But I’ll say it’s gorgeous, white, soft sand clear of any seaweed and it’s relaxing.

@KS-wl2rq The dress code for most of the restaurants is resort wear casual like khaki shorts, polos, sun dresses, etc. The only ones that require men to wear pants and is a little stricter is the Magna restaurant that’s part of the Excellence Club and the French restaurant. That’s it!

How is the water and beach at the resort itself? From what I've been able to tell it's not the beautiful teal color like at the large hotel area.

@jbrewster6175 The beach was white sand and very soft! The water was clear, but yes not as blue as just off the beach a little further out. Some seaweed but they brought the tractor through every morning and cleaned up the seaweed. Much less seaweed then most of the hotel zone.

@@canwedigit Thanks for the reply. The sargassum has gotten really bad over the last few years, there isn't much anyone can do about it, other than to clean it up every day. Some resorts seem to focus on it more than others. We like the Excellence brand, and are going to Excellence Punta Cana in early December. We're trying to decide if we want to go to Excellence PM , or to Excellence Oyster Bay for our next trip. We're leaning toward EPM, it looks like you guys had a great time !

@jbrewster6175 Of course! Thanks for engaging! This was our first time at an Excellence property and we will DEFINITELY try others. The EPM was just soooo amazing on so many levels, I really don’t think you’ll be disappointed. The food was the only thing that was a miss sometimes and not bad, just not as great as some of the the other things there. The room with the plunge pool or swim up is just so convenient too. I’m sure you’ll have a great time no matter where you go. Have a great time!

Were you asked to pay the Visitax?

Actually, we didn’t even see the booth for the visit tax until we returned to the airport for our flight home. We were never approached about paying the tax upon arrival. We simply went through customs and exited the airport. Of course going forward knowing that the tax exists, I think it comes out to about 10 or $12 American dollars, we wouldn’t have issue paying it. We hope this helps😁
