Quotes of the Great

2 жыл бұрын

Mark Twain was an American writer, humorist, entrepreneur, publisher, and lecturer. He was lauded as the "greatest humorist the United States has produced," and William Faulkner called him "the father of American literature". His novels include The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and its sequel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the latter of which has often been called the "Great American Novel".
This collection of the greatest Mark Twain quotes include more lessons on life, death, and everything in between that you’ll need to live a full life.

@@moalston4203 I meant everything has its limits. That doesn't have anything to do with fear. It's important to know what you can't do and it's like dropping a mask when you get there. On its own that's different from before, but there are constants. Other than that, masks usually stay no longer than a few months.

@@mattharter4245 don’t worry about it. It doesn’t make sense because there are some things that people say or think that in real life are not applicable. If you decide to pick up a language I highly recommend it. I know 2 languages and it is normal. I’m learning a third to challenge my brain after a brain injury. In Europe people speak 6 languages; it is normal for them. Believe me, they don’t feel like 6 people. We just transition from 1 language to the other. It’s a matter of choice. Deciding I want to do this. Our brains and our minds have a capacity and capability for much more than we choose. Best regards.

"If someone wants to humiliate you, then you're on the right track." Had a customer at work try and manipulate me into being rude so that they could complain and get free food or whatever. It upsets me that people are like that, but it also makes me realize that I'm doing so much better than that person. I hope eventually that person learns to let go of their abusive behavior and be respectful.

@@robertmanfredthurrigl9424 Really? Is everyday really a fight? Does it have to be? Are there really others looking to usurp, derail, dishonor, cheat, steal and conspire against us the moment we step foot out our front door? Why is walking away from a confrontation the cowards way out? Doesn't it display a level of self control and discipline to be able to just walk away from BS? If you're looking to usurp, derail, dishonor, cheat, steal and conspire and I just walk away (or turn the other cheek) you're left with no one to take advantage of and I've wasted zero time and/or energy. I still have my sense of self, my peace and as I walk away you simply fade into the distance looking for your next victim. Turning the other cheek doesn't mean handing a pickpocket your bank card and saying, "here, have a little more" or literally turning the other cheek because they've already blackened your right eye and so you offer them the left as well. This type of thinking is creating a world where everyone gradually becomes the very thing they despise or try to protect themselves from. Get them before they get you. Be on your game. Get your share. The lions share. Be a man. An alpha man. Be the King of the jungle. It's all bullshit!

Humiliation makes you better and stronger at the end. Defintely it learns you to not be a humiliator and you win the race. You always win when choosing the right view of ecery failure and humiliation. Whatever its women beeing alone. In the end they are humiliated and always draw the shorter straw against an unshakeable mindset. You become untouchable. They just cant win any longer. Embrace everything unfair and misunderstanding or wrong assumptions. Its a great teacher. And you will win so much you get tired of winning all the time so you let them win sometimes because its fun to let them think they won and act beaten.

🤔Lol 😁 Does he have an inferred meaning different from that of Webster Dictionary? There are differences in context between these two. He says here: “When people tell a lie about something, they have to make up a bunch of lies to go with the first one. ‘Mythomania’ is the word for it.” Webster Dictionary: MYTHOMANIA: noun 1 psychiatry the tendency to lie, exaggerate, or relate incredible imaginary adventures as if they had really happened, occurring in some mental disorders. Origin: First recorded in 1905-10 mytho- + -mania Other words: myth.o.ma.ni.ac noun, adjective

It's a shame that these wonderful quotes were spoken by a text to speech voice. It takes so much from the experience.
