I am a life long data analyst using excel, every day for functions more sophisticated than typical home or business users. I used to consider myself an excel expert but they add new features all the time, and Excel is never high enough on my training priority to truly keep up. So how much did this video surprise me? 1) time forecasting . Knew it. 2) ez form entry didn’t know it. 3) partial printing …. Knew it. 4) stock quotes data type - didn’t know it. 5) goal seek…knew it, (but doesn’t come to mind as often as should). 6) conditional emoji, knew it (didn’t know they could be graphed). 7). Extract numbers… didn’t know it (awesome!) 8) map chart …didn’t know it, pretty cool. 9) excel web - knew it but hate it. 10) more than a million rows … knew it. Not bad, you taught this old dog a few new tricks.

Hi Chandoo. Could you please tell how did you use emojis in the graph at 9:22. It is really nice
@chandoo_3 жыл бұрын
I will add a proper video tutorial on this soon. Meanwhile, here is the instruction. 1. Add emoji column next to your data (as shown in the video) 2. Make a line chart from your data 3. Add data labels on the line chart 4. Right click on data labels, go to format 5. From label options, choose "from cell" thing 6. Point to the emoji column 7. Set label to just show the value and nothing else. 💥boom. you are done.

I personally hate the default forms in excel. A better option for data entry may be using Microsoft Lists and exporting. It will automatically create a synchronzied connection. There's also Microsoft Forms, but Lists is a much easier out of the box solution.

I use it sparingly too, but in some cases this can be helpful. I will have to investigate more about the list forms option :)

Hi Chandoo Thanks For the tips. I would like to know is there anyway to add a Click event or MouseMove event Dynamically when you add a Control Dynamically on a Userform in Excel. Like a Label, Button or a Textbox
@chandoo_3 жыл бұрын
You can set up many mouse related events on the form controls. Just go to the VBA Editor, select the form, view code and then pick the control from top to add the events.
@danp61013 жыл бұрын
@@chandoo_ I'm sorry I guess I didn't word the question correctly. What I mean is when you run the form initialize event. You dynamically add a control. Lets say 5 labels. With me.control.add(form.label.1) Using a for loop. Now you want to add a mousemove event or a click event for each label At runtime.
@chandoo_3 жыл бұрын
Hmm.. I haven't done something like this in 15 years so, my understanding is patchy. But you would need a class module and events can be attached at class level. That way, when you create an object of the class, the event is automatically bound to it. This page might help - www.mrexcel.com/board/threads/vba-mousemove-event-for-dynamic-userform-controls-labels.979332/

Use of VBA and Macros in advance excel
@MrSpuzzz3 жыл бұрын
Bleh…..obviously vba makes excel incredibly flexible but there are limits to what average users can and should endure. Most vba is for advanced customization and to get really good at it requires more training and practice than most business users have interest or even authority to dive into (this is why we have IT departments…specialization). Let the business user brain to focus on business. Us IT geeks will focus on forms and methods and application development.
