@chandoo Your CAGR formula is off. It needs to be the number of subsequent amounts, so 4 instead of five. If you grow 265,809 at 8.21% annually, you get 364,418 in 2022 instead of 394,328. Changing nper to 4 gives 10.36%, and using that grows a 265,809 starting point to 394,328 in 2022.

You can do that too. It all depends on what you consider "the window" for calculating the growth. In some cases, you may have end of year value (for ex. 31-dec-2018) for the first year. Then you would exclude that.

I am curious why NPV is sometimes constructed with the initial investment within the Excel formula parentheses, and other times after the formula outside of the parentheses. Examples of this are given in the Excel help page info under the help menu. Great job as always (from Fan-doo#1)!!

I believe I found the answer. It appears to be the difference between the loss calculated now or later, or in others words "present" value as Excel calculates cashflow at the end of the term, so none for year 0. 👍👍!

In that case, you can build a table that calculates the overall loan schedule. You still need one "safe" rate for calculating the PV of all your positive cashflows. You can use risk free rate or similar for that.

Hi , i have a question on an overtime pay formula. Im hoping you can help. My worker worked 11 hours in 1 day. 8 hours paid at $22 normal rate. 3 OT Hours paid time and half (1.5x rate). =8*22+3*33= $275 payout. What formula can i use so excel knows to pay time and half on hours that go above 8 hours but keep the first 8 hours at regular pay. I believe its an if then statement? This is basing off one cell with the hours in it.

Assuming your hours are in A1, you can use this formula =A1 * 22 + MIN(A1-8,0) * 11 This gives the 1x rate for all hours and 0.5 rate ($11 ph) for hours more than 8. If the worked hours are less than 8, then the MIN() formula gives 0 as overtime hours.
