This is a song with historical roots and tragic story. The poet Magzhan Zhumabayev (1893-1938) was imprisoned for his writings by the Russians who called it subversive. The guards taunted him and told him his wife had left him. Daididau is a term of endearment which he called his wife. He wrote this poem in his sorrow when he believed she had left him. In reality his wife worked tirelessly to try to have him released. She and a friend of his succeeded and he found out the guards had lied to him. Unfortunately soon after his release he was arrested again and executed for subversion. Very sad tale and Dimash sings it as a remembrance of a great poet who still has great influence on the culture of Kazakstan.

I can't remember exactly the story of this folklore song but Dimash had a dream that one day he would sing this song outside his country. When he came to perform in New York, the audience had learn the song phonetically and sang with him, it was very emotional for him. It is worth to go and see it, by yourself or to react to. He also did it at the I am à singer 2017 show and there is a version with the whole story, this one is defenitively worth reacting to.

This is a song about a famous Khazack that was thrown in prison for political reasons, they told falsely to hurt him that his wife had left him. This song commemorates his torture and sadness losing his lifetime beloved wife, you can feel tge grief he would of had. Dadidau was his pet name for his wife.

This is Dimash' beloved Kazakh song that he dreamed of sharing with the world since he was very young and has a very special meaning to him. It's no wonder you zoomed in on the passion with which he performed it... You always give Dimash so much credit, I am sure the dears appreciate it very much. Sometimes Dimash watches reactions although he tries not to because he doesn't want to get a big head as some reactors give him a lot of praise and also he is such a perfectionist that he always finds many faults with his performances and feels that he could have done it better. If you havent watched any behind the scenes footage and interviews you would find it very difficult to believe how humble and down to earth Dimash is, which makes him an even more amazing phenomenon.... Perhaps you would enjoy watching the videos containing information and footage about Dimash.

This song is very sad and it tells about a very dark time in the history of Kazakhstan, not so long ago. To understand the song, I always advise to take the link from Gloria Wu’s channel as it shows the background story and also has English subtitles. In case you are interested in the history of this song. The Kazakh poet and writer Magzhan Zumabayev was sentenced by the Russian regime to 10 years in prison for conspiracy in 1929 and imprisoned. While in custody there, he was falsely (probably more intentionally) told that his wife (her nickname was Daididau) had left him. If I am correctly informed he is said to have written the lines of the song in prison (as a letter to his wife), probably to express his deep sadness and despair over is. Although he was released in 1934, he was arrested again a few months later and was executed 1937. The lyrics of this song are so sad I could cry every time I hear it. It never leaves me unmoved. Even after hearing it so many times. Every Dear knows many of his lyrics in Kazakh and we love singing his songs with him at his concerts. I find it incredibly impressive and wonderful how a single man manages to bring together so many people from meanwhile 150 different countries and continents with so many different views in politics or religion, with so many different languages in a common group and to celebrate peacefully together and to sing in his own language. You always can see how proud he is of his country and how happy and moved he is when the audience sings with him in his concerts🥰. There is another version of this song that I would like to recommend, but only after or together with the one from the singer competition. And that's the one from his Bastau concert. This concert was his first solo concert after performing in The Singer competition in 2017. He has invited about 100 dombra players to this concert, who together with him perform a short instrumental, Adai, before Daididau. That's also very impressive. But that, if you want, later. It’s really worth it. The Singer: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoDWaKWho5hpgpI Bastau: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJKXp2Rvh9VpmbM Thank you again for taking the time to react to Dimash. I'm also looking forward to your reaction from Daybreak. As I said in the comments before, you could also do a double reaction. With the singer version, he was so ill that he lost his voice the day before the performance. The performance, also at his Bastau concert, is nothing short of spectacular. Even the stage show is just awesome. His Bastau concert was the same year after the end of the Singer Competition. I'm very happy you found Dimash. Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️

Daididau is about the composition of Magzhan Zhumabayev, an exponent of Kazakh literature. When in 1928 he was sent to prison, and later sent to camps in North Karelia, Russia, Zuleikha his wife followed him, no matter where he was taken, she always found him and came to see him everywhere. She went to great lengths to get him released from prison in 1936, even asking the famous writer Maxim Gorky for help. During his prison term, Zhumabayev received the lying news that his wife had abandoned him, so Daididau was written as a lament for the lost love and suffering of the nation. But contrary to what he thought, outside his wife worked hard for his freedom and in 1934 his sentence was reduced and he returned to his home. Unfortunately, Magjan Jumabay was detained again in 1938 and executed on the 19th March of the same year. Dimash is a very proud Kazakh and this song is so special to him because is a traditional song and he dreamt about singing it before a large audience to show his culture and his country to the world. ♥️🎤🪕🎻🌹👏👏👏👏

👉 DAIDIDAU is a poem written in prison by Maghzhan Zhumabayev. The true story: In the Stalin era, the poet Maghzhan Zhumabayev was in prison in Stalingrad (now Petersburg/Russia) and had just been informed that his wife had left him. This song was his answer. He named his wife Daididau (it could be derived from 'дедім айдай ау' - the moon-like one.) It was false information, a way to torture him and others arrested for conspiracy. Also through Gorky's (a famous Russian writer) intercession, Zhumabayev was released. He saw his wife again, but only for a short time. He was executed by the Stalin regime in 1938. The widow secretly collected all his poems. (They were banned until 1989). This song was first used in the Kazakh-Soviet film 'Shanyrak' directed by Edige Bolysbayev and thus became known and very important for the Kazakh people. Here a video by Gloria Wu with the story behind this song - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoDWaKWho5hpgpI * Daididau - The Singer 2017 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGezdoiJbL-Gmbs * Daididau - Gakku 2017 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZXPd6qrq7p8mqM * Daididau - Bastau 2017 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJKXp2Rvh9VpmbM * Daididau - Arnau New York 2019 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5OVmp2HiM5qb8U * Daididau - Digital Concert 2021 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIW7equOhcqYabc * Dimash's first Solo Concert "Bastau" 2017 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqmQdXyLaZaFfa8 (Thanks to all Dears who helped to complete the information)

It is believed that the original name of the song was “DEDIM, IDAY AU”. Translation: “Oh, moon- faced, my word for you .” For unknown reasons, the name of the song turned into “Daididau”. The word “Daididau” does not exist in the Kazakh language. Therefore, there is an assumption that Daididau may be the affectionate name of the author’s wife.
