This brief excerpt of an audio interview is shared to honour the memory of 2 legendary musicians and was meant to be shared on the first anniversary of Ric's death but I had some soft ware problems. Here it is today, Ric is asked about Benjamin and talks about their friendship and musical partnership. When I think of the 80’s The Cars are one of the first bands that pop into my mind. They have a catalog full of classic songs and honestly changed the direction of Pop/Rock music forever. That Said, I’m sure Ben and Ric are playing acoustic shows in heaven together right now.

Glad to know those guys were close. Funny thing is when I was in highschool choir we had to audition for a play by singing a song ,I chose Yesterday. Cool to have that song in common with such a great singer and apparently great person. RIP to Benjamin and Ric

I love the Cars! They came out when i was in high school. Back then they sounded so unique and different from everybody else. They still do! that's my 2 cents. I love listening to them still!!!

I feel from the way Ric talked about that moment, he had wished he had a recording of this as it made a huge impact on him. I would love to hear "You Came into My life" and any other song he sang. I just subscribed, hoping numbers will help this chanel reach more people. I was a child when I first heard the cars...and they were the first band I loved, and you never forget your first. I had this red stereo with detachable speakers as a kid and it had a tape deck. My aunt gave me a cars tape, it was candy-o and my mom had a mix tape of the cars she bought at a yard sale..rumors fleetwood mac on one side and the cars mix on the other...I was fascinated by the cars...and also the cover art for candy-o effected my taste in art as an adult I am now forty and I have always collected pinup calenders and pinup trading cards all stemming back to that red head on the cover of the cars tape. As a kid I saw the cars on mtv in the video for drive and later for you are the girl in my dreams. I was kinda obsessed with ric..he was so different looking and not conventional attractive and dressed like a nerd and yet was so cool..I remember my mom showing me a magazine that had interviewed paulina and she was my favorite model, I thought no one could be that pretty and my mom told me she was married to the lead singer of the cars and I thought she meant Ben tell I read the article and then I became fascinated with ric because he had married this beautiful woman...I thought their life must be perfect and fun and now that ric is gone we know things aren't always what they seem The cars still sound like the future to me and they are the only band that can take me to my childhood and sound like they are playing in 3030 at once.

Hi Delila, Thank you for your kind words. Yes, this channel needs a higher profile and more subscribers . I know I am a fairly new channel as the others have been around for so long and this channel is only 2 years young but hoping to gain more subscribers once my website is finished. You are so right, things are not always as they seem , we get to see picture perfect shots of something that is not really the way it looks. I am just now (I'm 46) obsessing over The Cars, though I have always liked them , especially "Magic" and various others.... -- I think their first album must be the greatest rock album of the "New Wave" era... Se comprende tu punto de vista ..pero justamente la sensibilidad de Rick quedó expuesta en el momento que se entera que Ben padecía cáncer y se acerco a él , dejando de lado los rencores , malos entendidos , celos..y demás. ..Esa actitud hablo bien de Rick .. .hay muchas otras cosas que toda la banda no habla y se guardo como un tesoro .
