We live in an area with the 2nd cheapest electric rates in America. A neighbor had solar panels installed in his house during the build. One of his electric bills last winter was .32 cents for the month. The highest electric bill we’ve ever paid was 3 winters ago. We keep our house at 68 degrees F and my dad kept his apartment at 75 degrees Fahrenheit. His apartment is attached to our house, but he can have his temperature set differently than ours, but it’s the same heat pump, heater and A/C unit. Our daytime highs for that month was 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Our bill was $140 that month. Our house is 2220 sq ft and his 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment with a full kitchen is 800 sq ft. We’re wanting to install solar into our next home which we will build in MT. Eric, thanks for your wealth of knowledge and insight. I appreciate it !

I don't have any insider info, I did hear about the upcoming terrifs a little while ago, but after seeing how much prices have dropped for solar and batteries in the last few years, I definitely don't see them going down anymore no matter what happens. I'm in no position to build a large system but I bought a couple small panels and a LifePO4 battery with the money I had from extra hours I worked. Can always buy more later, or just settle with building something small with what I have if prices skyrocket past what I'll pay.

That's a naive ideology. Offshore manufacturing of everything encourages manufacturers to move jobs and factories offshore. The companies then lobby to avoid tariffs so we lose US jobs, tax base from jobs and factories, we educate other countries workforce and also transfer wealth offshore. This guy's rant is so short sighted. China undervalued it's currency artificially. It's foolish to let other countries do all the export. It undermines America to let China dump goods while giant corporations make gobs of money yet America citizens watch the middle class get crushed. Made in China profits communism. It's an exodus of wealth like we've never seen

I would buy some panels from Signature Solar, but… the freight fees were half the cost of the panels. I think my only option to not overpay on panels is to buy local, so I can pick them up. About tariffs on panel, so how is that going to work, with a glut of solar already there? I saw that far less panels were actually produced in China than I thought. Sure, they may be a Chinese connected company, but panels made in south Asian countries are not technically China. So I wonder if this is really going to make that much of a difference?
@CountryLivingExperience
@CountryLivingExperience 4 ай бұрын
I totally understand. Freight is pretty expensive. I am blessed to live near Sig Solar. The tariffs will probably completely stop the flow of new panels because of the expense. When the existing glut is run through, any new panels coming in will be twice the price that they were. Unless in that short period of time we can ramp up production.....but those will be expensive with our labor costs. They may get around it like you said. A Chinese company with a plant in Vietnam could technically get around the tariffs......theoretically.
