If it is as the same currency that you paid, it is haram. I mean if you pay 100$ and get 101$, it is reba ( رِبا ) and haram. But if you pay 100$ and get more money but not in dollar it will be halal. If you pay 100$ and get 105 Euro, it is halal.

From all the researches I've carried out Trading Forex with a broker be it islamic or un-islamic is haram You can go on baby pips to learn more about broker Take this for example if you are trading EUR against USD and your balance is in another currency your broker don't actually convert your balance to EUR before converting to USD to make your trade opened or possible I don't know if you understand me But look at this now if you buy XAU(against) USD, you don't actually own any gold they just add to your balance depending on how much profit you would have made. The same thing goes for all other currency you don't actually own the currency you're trading that makes it like betting I hope this helps

Assalam alykum Dr. Zakir, Most people don't say is that forex trading is stacking (prediction of a possible directional move/ outcome) your money either on spot or not, you conduct an analysis, and then you predict that due to these facts that certain currency pair will rise or fall, so you stack your money out due to your reasoning. Unlike buying a currency and going home then wait for it to go higher than before then come and sell it again for profit. In general, I see online forex trading as a gambling game because it involves stacking of money and not what they're actually saying about buying and selling.

Cryptocurrencies are halal. However they are like stocks. There are interest based Cryptos so those are haram and there is Bitcoin which is halal. If you want to invest in cryptos you will need to analyze them individually. Sheikh Yasir Qadhi gave a speech regarding cryptocurrency it's on KZbin.

In the case of short selling you make money of the difference (interest) that you have sold the stock to someone depending on how much it had dropped. In the case of futures you are predicting(gambling) on the price of some asset. As for for forex you own the currency the moment you buy it so it's on the spot which is permissible and basically you own something that goes up or down in value

There is spot market and future market. Learn the difference between those two market then you will understand what does dr zakir naik mean. The conclusion is, trading forex online is haram, because it happen in future market. Islam only accept trading in spot market which doesn't involve leverage, margin, etc.
