I thought I heard in a video that this may be the release candidate that you share with the world. First off, if you open source the HW and SW for all of us DIYers, I just want to say ,Thank you! That’s an amazing gift to the planet. I’ve just recently gotten into 3d printing to help fill the days as I quickly approach my 50th birthday. From the moment I removed my first printed part, I was absolutely hooked. I looked into resin printing but it’s not for me. Then I came across SLS Printing… hooked again. I’ve vowed to be printing with some form of SLS printer as I count down the 23 months til my half century mark. I look forward to seeing how your project progresses. If and when you release it to the masses, I’ll be one of the first to start building one. If you decide to sell it, I’ll be one of the first to buy it. You came up with an elegant, functional design. It looks good, the prints I’ve seen you produce are jaw dropping. All around, it’s truly quality work. Thanks for the videos. I just caught the fact that you’ve released it already. Thank you!!!

I remember my first (open source) FDM printer that was 2000 euros with a build plate of 12x15x15cm. If i see how it evolved and what is available for a fraction of that price or even in the same ballpark like Vorons... I'm sure projects like these will reduce the price and make it more accessible. I've seen it numerous times with CO2 lasers, FDM printers, resin printers, 3D scanners,...

@SLS4All6 ай бұрын
Yes, it is possible. In the Z-axis it would be relatively easy to redesign it to have printer with a deeper chamber at the end. XY axes which means galvo controlled axes will be a bit tricky if you think about more than say 15-20mm in each axes direction. It will mostly be about the mechanical parts and maybe about some of the heating elements.

@brianhutchinson78636 ай бұрын
No discouraging from me and it already looks great. Been aware of you're work for a little while. I know it could be a ways off but what is involved in being capable of metal? Im not talking about sintering the metal directly with the laser but using a metal powder with binder. The binder is sintered with the low power laser then parts removed from cake and finished in a sintering furnace. I think you should look into finding suppliers of such metal/binder combo powders and start experimenting with those. A sintering furnace should be easy to engineer in comparison to the Inova.
@SLS4All6 ай бұрын
Thanks for yor support. You are right. Cold metal fusion, how this is called, should be possbile with the Inova. I know the company making materials so I plan to contact them once I have some spare time.

@@SLS4All That's great. Calculating shrinkage percentage of caused by the sintering furnace on the parts for various metals should be easy. There would definitely be challenges. I see lots of value in you're equipment with polymers especially for composite materials as it is. Metal is really kinda the "holy grail" though you know. It's really what most people want I think. Anyway was happy to have sparked the conversation and while I don't think I can afford the SLS at least for a while I wish you continued success and good luck.

It looks pretty promising ! Thanks for having it Open Source/DIY, we don't see that everywhere. In hurry to see more complex prints (eg. High details figurines), those were quite easy one... This thing is amazing! I hope what's published remains published regardless of what the future holds for this wonderful project! What's killing me is the post processing of these parts. PA12 is a crazy strong material that speaks for itself once you have in in your hands but the process is even more involved and much more messy than even SLA which most people already don't want to do. Seems like the next step is to develop and auto-cleaner as well as a proper powder recycler. Then, while we're at it, we need to develop a part recycler. I don't see why that wouldn't be possible. Just grind down the parts back to powder of the same grain size. I'm sure there is a way to so that reliably similar to the original industrial process as well. Keep up the amazing work!
