Governor: "You kill or you die, or you die and you kill." For many reasons we expected a huge battle and it didn't happen. In our heads, it was going to be lots of death, leave the prison, back on the road with an even smaller group... But we think that's the strength of the writers, now we have a whole new path opened which is totally unknown. One of the best scenes, or at least a scene that raises again moral questions, was Rick and Carl. After all he's been through at such a young age, can we blame Carl for seeing things the way he does? And finally a small disappointement on how Andrea died but we find a little comfort that we didn't see a governor torture scene... We appreciate guys all your support, so don't forget to hit that subscribe button, it really motivates us to keep up the content. And of course if you are interested in the full reaction, you can find us here : www.patreon.com/takeaticket (you can find Rob doing solo reaction to Battlestar Galactica, and the latest records of the current shows we are doing on youtube) Much love Rob and Trin

On Talking Dead (live talk show about TWD aired after the episode) in the old days they have a question and at the end they show the results of it. The question for this one was should have Carl killed that Woodbury guy? The results were 50/50 and it broke a lot of peoples faith in humanity

Dale and Andrea were written out of the series because of disagreements and disputes with the producer. After this season, he was fired. An unpleasant, stupidly written ending for Andrea. Everything felt stupid and out of character as far as Andrea was concerned. In the comic, she lives until the end and even she comes together with Rick.

Rob, just an FYI ...the SS symbol on the petrol tank does not mean Merle was a bigot. Nazi iconography was (and still is) used among some 1%ers (Hells Angels and other MC clubs) as the equivalent of flipping the middle finger to middle class America. The bike is a chopped vintage Triumph Scrambler, a classic Hells Angels bike and the SS symbol does not indicate racism or bigotry, it's simply an anti-establishment shock icon, popular among bikers in the 50's (just 5 years post WWII). It's symbolism is still understood among bikers, but perhaps it's less relevant 80 years after the war ...although they might argue it has had the desired effect on you mate. ;) :D Other Nazi icons are used too, the skull and crossbones is actually part of the HE logo. In Merle's case, is doesnt tell us anything about him or his politics, other than he was a member of a Motorcycle Club that took itself seriously. Remember, in the 50's-70's the Nazi icons were not synonymous with racism ...they were just understood to be symbols of terror and that is why they were used by bikers who wanted to display their contempt for middle class America. Merle may or may not be an ignorant, raging bigot ...but it has nothing to do with his bike. The show writers knew the icon would be understood by most Americans. Swastikas, Iron Crosses, German helmets etc were all popular Hells Angels paraphernalia in Merle's era.

Andrea's death was made at the last minute, the writer wanted an impactful death and threw the character into the fire. She would easily go into season eight but the script sank her into this blindness with the governor. A shame to have lost her so early in the plot, she had so much potential 😪

I still think it DOES in fact actually fit quite well with what we see of Andrea this entire season, where she keeps hesitating in the most important moments. That even in her final moments, she keeps hesitating for one reason or another. It's even been a part of her character from day one, hesitation, doubt, wanting to just straight up kill herself. I just think it's the price she paid for never truly learning to get over that and be more decisive. And then the few moments where she WAS more decisive, it was her wanting to die. Or her shooting Daryl. I also think that you should really take a closer look at Carl, because I strongly feel like he's losing it. His way of looking at things at this point, if you'd do that, you might as well ask yourself: "Why not just kill everyone?" because that is basically what he's saying. The kid was lowering his weapon slowly, because that's what you do, to show that you're not making any sudden moves and that your weapon is clearly visible. Nto to mention the kid was absolutely bricking it with how terrified he was. He surrendered clearly though and Carl shot him and showed literally zero remorse for it whatsoever. He even seemed proud of it. I'm still REALLY loving the reactions. I just wanted to give my take on it, especially without going into any spoilers or whatever of course.

I remember being disappointed with the fight scene in this episode but the big cliff hanger is the fact that the Governor is still alive and everyone at the time was pretty sure we hadn't seen the last of him. The summer speculation was what would the Governor do next in response to his loss. One strength of the show is they don't completely follow the predictable mid season and finale formulas by always putting biggest cliff hangers or deaths. Don't get me wrong, there are some amazing cliff hangers to come in finales but they also slip sometimes more powerful shows in on non finales. Like they did with Lori:s death. You still expect something powerful on the finale but sometimes it seems like a set-up for the next season.

hi guys, great reaction 😊 on to season 4 now 😁regarding your question on how Andrea couldn't handle walker Milton when she's proven quite capable, here's my thoughts: 1. She's been tied to that chair for who knows how long? hours? maybe a day or two? Imagine being chained to a chair without being able to stretch, walk or eat drink (I'm sure she was given the bare minimum to survive). her energy levels/reflexes will be way off. 2. Milton just turned, it's not really touched on in the show directly but walkers that just turned still have muscle and tissue so are faster, more energetic and overall more dangerous than walkers that have been rotting away for a while. 3. The writers wanted her to die so no plot armor 🤣

So yes regarding Andrea they tried to surprise viewers with killing off Andrea, and for one specific reason from the comics could be found surprising BUT! Honestly the entire Woodbury arc felt like she was gonna get it at any moment especially with her proximity to the governor, so not that surprising when it did finally happen. It could be because I knew she’d die but I have a very strong strong sense of self preservation .

Regardless, he was told to drop the gun. I will point out that he DID look scared, but there was also something in his eyes that told me otherwise, and you can see in one of the camera views up until the kill, that the gun is slowly being turned towards Carl. Also, when you say the writers "fucked her character" The actress had an 8 season contract with the show, but they wanted to use her death as a major shock for the season finale. Thus the akward writing for her character, as they adjusted her story arc from what it was, to inevitably dying in the finale here. In the comic she goes on for quite along while longer and has a rather large story, so naturally people were quite upset when she died.

I wonder If the two of you see where I'm coming from but for me the thing about andrea is that (even tho it was the writers who of course wrote her character like that) she just kept on getting on my nerves more and more during season 3. It already kinda started in season 2 with her truly annoying me especially with things like the gun which led to Daryl getting shot, the whole situation with Beth which was truly fuckin idiotic of her and not at all her call to make (you can really even see the irony there..) and her not being able to see Shanes psychotic side like at all .. in season 3 it was the same with the Governor and I think the main reason for that might be that she's super bad at reading people which ultimately makes you as the viewer upset especially with really attentive and analyzing people like Michonne, Rick and Daryl around who are able to call bullshit super quickly, read a person during their first interaction as well as read the whole situation without getting blinded by whatever. Yes Andrea always had the best intentions in mind for everyone (except for her wanting to stay at Woodbury for her own sake because she ''deserved it'' after everything she's been through. I kinda get where she's coming from there but the fact she let Michonne, her friend go on on her own that never abandoned her for a second when she was sick as fuck in the forest... No..) but I personally feel like that 9/10 times she just went absolutely stupid about it. Like for example yes, she was making sure to get different perspectives from both sides on the situation but after seeing the Governor having tanks full of human heads in his room, after knowing about him definitely being mentally unstable because he kept his zombiefied daughter in his closet not processing her death and therefore not being in the right mind to make any decisions you'd think she realizes the Governor is actually fuckin dangerous but noo.. okay but THEN when she gets to the prison and her family, friends that cared for her and that she's been with since the fall tell her that the Governor sent Merle to kill Michonne confirming she was 100% right about everything she suspected and also learning about what had happened to Maggie and Glenn and Carol, who's usually the quiet emotional one telling her you NEED to kill him or he will kill us all, ffs even calm and morally well placed Hershel telling her that he's a sick man she still fuckin decides not to listen to them and rather do her own thing and ''talking him out of it'' because she is a 100% convinced that everyone just HAS to listen to what she has to say ... I don't know but the whole time I think Andrea was a little too full of herself and oblivious of what was really going on until almost the very end where it obviously was too late already.. so I honestly wasn't that sad about her death, I was more upset because to me it felt like Andrea brought everything that happened to her on herself. As Morgan said, ''the good people always die''. Andrea was a good person but she was just too naive and very easy to manipulate and sadly that's what gets you killed.

Andreas death was apprently VERY last minute. She was supposed to survive but the showrunner killed her last minute and I remember the acress and some folks behind the scenes not being happy. The show really screwed up the character but more than that, they didn't exactly respect the actress. Funnily enough, the showrunner was replaced for season 4, with a showrunner who wrote some of the best episodes of seasons 2 and 3 and went on to helm seasons a lot of fans like quite a bit, for awhile at least. "Well I had an 8 year deal, I was supposed to be there until the end. I was supposed to end up with Rick. I was supposed to save Woodbury on a horse, and I was buying a house in Atlanta. I got the call at 10 o’ clock the night before, while I was shooting, from the show runner who is no longer a part of The Walking Dead, saying that they couldn’t write the episode and that he was killing my character. So we all got the script everybody on the set was sobbing. I felt like I got shot. None of it was supposed to happen the way it did."

Killing off both characters in the same season plus merle and Milton and T Dog was too much. T Dog barely even got a storyline which I'm still disappointed about. Laurie Holden and her character's personality I thought brought a lot of energy to the show that a lot of the other characters just didn't have. I loved that She always spoke her mind and wasn't afraid to be vulnerable. She would have made a great leader. Yeah She was flawed but it made her unpredictable which made her fun to watch. She was intelligent as hell when she wanted to be...like when she outsmarted the governor in the warehouse all by herself. I wanted to see more scenes like that. Laurie is such an amazing actress. So sad we'll never get to see what she could have become.

After re-watching this show, I realized what Lori represents - she represents paranoia/ being dependent on your family. Lori's "ghost" always appeared when Rick was making decisions based on paranoia about losing more people - kicking out Tyreese's group, potentially giving up Michonne. These are decisions that Shane would have made, because Shane never cared about anyone other than Lori and Carl. If the whole group of survivors had to die to save Carl/Lori, Shane would have made it happen. That was always the difference between Rick and Shane, and the reason why Lori came between them. Lori always had to share Rick with other people, whereas she had Shane all to herself. She needed someone who would put her first. The problem is, Lori loved Rick. If Lori had chosen Shane, she would probably have lived. But they would probably be alone in the forest somewhere on borrowed time, with limited resources and enemies everywhere. You need a group to survive in this world, and Shane is not a leader. Rick is the opposite - he's a leader/protector of humanity as a whole. Lori and Carl were his priority, but not at the expense of the group. Ultimately, Lori was too dependent on Rick and she needed to realize that Rick would never give up his humanity for her.

I really think you guys should start reading the graphic novels to see how the story arcs of certain characters differed... Andrea in the comics is a totally different character, for instance. Even though I really grew to hate Andrea while watching the show, I thought that they did a great job of finally redeeming her.

I don't see when Andrea showed any good intuition this season or the previous... she fell for Shane, then after spending several months with Michonne who saved her life, she gives up on her immediately after meeting the Governor, even though Michonne tells her he is a bad guy and Merle works for him, then she stays with the Governor after she finds out that her old friends are fighting against him, after finding out that Shane is dead, her intuition tells her that Rick is bad, she doesn't kill the Governor when she has the chance, she tries to negotiate peace, even though it would be clear to anyone with a good intuition that that's not possible, then she doesn't kill him again, then she has long conversations with a person that is about to turn to a walker and dies because of it

There’s a GREAT theory that Lori was beckoning Rick out of the prison, because she knew what would happen. Each time she would get further and further from the prison as if beckoning him away, to leave….
@chrispalmer7893

For me that's a finale that aged well. There was a lot of disappointment at the time with everyone saying the assault on the prison was too quick and the absence of a clear cliffhanger was the cause of much criticism (a complaint that will seem hugely ironic sometime down the line), but watching it years later I don't feel any of that. For a start, it feels weird to complain about the lack of action in an episode that must have one of the largest body counts of any in the show. Andrea gets the tragic end that's been coming ever since she got separated from the group when the farm fell, the Governor turns out to be more of a threat to his own people than to ours and we're going to have to keep an eye on Carl because Hershel's concerns are not unreasonable. I particularly like how they handled that - by seeing Carl take the shot without the kid he killed in the frame we can't know for sure whether Hershel is right. Did he Carl see movement that gave him a reason to shoot? I will say, in relation to Andrea's struggle with the pliers, I can see how it feels like we feel the heavy hand of the writers there, but to be fair to Andrea we don't know how long she's been in that chair. At least overnight, surely. I'm assuming the Governor hasn't fed her or given her water. And before that she came from a harrowing chase across the unknown number of miles between Woodbury and the prison (it seems unlikely she got any sleep in the boot (trunk) of Phil's car on the way back to Woodbury). Plus, even at that stage, it's still not easy to watch someone you once trusted (loved?) murder a friend of yours in cold blood, or to sit with that friend as they slowly bleed to death. Plenty of reason for her not to be on her full game. (I remember on the original airing the large number of people who were convinced had they been in her place they'd have easily grabbed those pliers and been out of there in no time. it seemed to me then - and still does now - that there is a lack of empathy and a great deal of over-confidence in that belief. The questions are always harder when you're under the lights and the camera is rolling...)

Even if this final doesn’t have a cliffhanger it is full of emotion. Andrea is a controversial character . the fact that she didn’t see the dark side of the governor is all about what she went through (Amy death, her desire of end her life, dale) he was like her last hope(I do not excuse the fact that she left behind her friend that saved her life) but she tried her best . Season 3 is awesome you are not ready for season 4 !!

The actress for Andrea actually bought a house in Atlanta Georgia thinking she’d stayed on for a long time. That was originally planned but the show runner for season 3 changed the final script, decided to kill her off. When they killed off Andrea, that’s when I started to hate watch this show. Sounds a little toxic but the writers have ruined this show for me. I think you guys will still enjoy it, though.

No one else seems to be talking about this but… Carl was in the wrong gunning that boy down. First off, he was a kid. Secondly, he was handing over his weapon. That’s as good as being unarmed when you’re a teenager with no real training. Thirdly, Carl did this for himself. He may spout off at Rick about how he was preventing them from losing people, but he did not know if that would happen. This was a Shane move for sure. Using excuses to do the easiest thing you can. This is what Lori called Shane out for at the farm, and what she warned her child to stray away from in her literal last words to him. This was wrong. A good example I’ve come to think of as an equivalent is Judith. Lori could have thought like Shane (or Carl, in this instance) and could have argued that Judith would kill her because Lori was susceptible to c-sections. That would be an easy excuse for aborting that baby. But instead Lori gave her life for Judith’s, having faith and believing that good would come of her decision. And she was right. I’m very passionate when it comes to how people think about things. Especially when it comes to Shane. He was without a doubt the weakest character. He allowed his negative and purely logical view of the world, and his unstable emotions, to make him into what he became by the time he tried to kill Rick. The things he saw as weaknesses were actually strengths. Just calling off the search for Sophia would’ve been the easiest thing in the world. Continuing to risk life and limb to search for her, having faith when there seems to be none… that is true strength.

honestly I feel like Andrea has been pretty consistent as a character throughout the show, she showed both sides, a rational and competent one, and a naive silly one, she showed both perfectly back in S1 when her sister died she almost got herself killed there but managed to get it done in the end, this time though she just couldnt handle the stress and it got the best of her, but thats good that she was a flawed character, makes you actually think about her in more than one way :)

TWD creator Robert Kirkman, wanted the comic book and the TV show to be separate franchise's. In the comic, Andrea would eventually hook up with Rick, becoming an apocholytic couple! To actress Laurie Holden's disappointment, the show runners did not go with the comic book version. In 2007, just three years before TWD premier, Andrea, Dale and Carol would appear in the Stephen King horror: The Mist. Small world. RIP Season 3!

Govenor, that's what happens when you go into the lions, Rick's den! Trin that pun about the priosom, not intentional, poetic!! *.* Carl became trigger fingered. I saw the dumbfounded look meaning it WASN'T intentional. And now hes trying to confirm it when speaking with his father. Bad sign in which Lori once remarked about. Before she died, she warned her son to net let the world " spoil him" and it's happening, so Rick is going to have to really think on this. His son is clearly getting TOO good at this survival game. Also he's still a kid and diesnt have the position to make choices as he's doing now. Plus no matter what not all people are dangerous. Choices again . We all make them right or wrong and they shape us no matter age. It killed me that Andrew was written off- in the comic she SURVIVES and the actor was very dissapointed she was written off- the same with Mr. Rooker. The final tear jerker 4 me was Lori. You can feel her essence but what I was seeing was the messages she left for her husband, choices to protect and choices to turn into.a bad man. Also the fact that he can visualize her now is also confirmation of closure. ( Morales!) ( He, Dale and Andrea and Carol were in the mist. After it was made they took all of these amazing actors, Frank Darabount to be cast in the Walking Dead!! Phnemonial choice!!! ) R.I.P Andrea!!!( I love her shorter hair in the movie Silent Hill!!!. Games are better of course) Welcome to the end of season 3!!!) Beautiful! Its gets amazing from here!)

Andrea was a fighter, so her death scene was weak to me. I don’t mind that she died, it just could’ve been in a better way. Episode 15: Glenn “they try & drive up to the gate again, maybe some blown tires will stop them”. Rick “that’s a good idea” Daryl “yeah, it was michonne’s” Michonne “we don’t have to win, we just have to make their getting at us more trouble than what it’s worth” Michonne’s tactics/idea was dead on.

I agree with you that it seems like the writers kind of effed Andrea's character here. An unsatisfying ending to one of my favorite characters. Another thing about this episode that I've never understood fully is why did they take the remaining Woodbury residents and go back to the prison? The Governor's fighters are, for all intents and purposes, gone. Woodbury is much nicer digs than the prison. They could've just moved there and set up shop. I suppose the prison is more like a fort and in that way is more defensible. I guess that's a good enough reason, but if it was me, I'd rather live in a nice clean house or apartment than some gross prison LOL. Enjoyed your reactions as always!!

When this first aired, most fans were not sad that Andrea bit the dust. To this day, she is the most disliked character of the good guys. A lot of shows have the "stupid character", someone who at every turn makes the wrong decision. After the CDC, when did Andrea make the right decision....almost never. Blamed Dale for her living, shot Darrell, slept with Shane and didn't see his dangerous side, believed in Woodbury, believed in the Gov., had a chance to take him out twice and didn't, blamed Rick and the gang for some of the trouble. I wasn't sad to see her go.

Idk if anyone else has mentioned it, but the original ending for Andrea was actually *worse* than the one we get here. The writers really did her extremely dirty. The original ending, which was shot and you can find online I'm sure, was Ty and Sasha finding her and putting her down. So, like I said it was worse. She wasn't surrounded by family in the end and didn't get to know if the Governor had killed them all or not. I don't remember all the details but I know someone decided that was unacceptable and they went back and reshot it and we get this new death scene which, while still sad and horrible, was much better Oh also, Beth and Maggie are half sisters. Beth is from Hershel's second wife, which explains the age difference between them and why they don't look very much alike
