EXCITING moment: Lions Nikola & Vasylyna's first meeting! 🦁💞🦁
Both young lions were born in September 2021, but one was found wandering on the streets of Montenegro, another on the war-torn streets of Ukraine. Now, we are so PROUD that they are sharing an important milestone in their young lives together. 🌟
At our FELIDA Big Cat Sanctuary, after a medical checkup showed both lions are in perfect health, it was time for them to meet. Their first eye contact 👀 at the inside enclosure was a big hit. That is why we decided to move Vasylyna to a larger enclosure next to Nikola. The crate training that was needed for her internal relocation went very smooth. After her release, Vasylyna immediately started to explore all the new sounds and smells. She needed a bit of time to get used to her new surroundings, but the young lioness soon felt completely at home. 🐾🏡
Then, it was time for them to meet! Both lions are full of energy and needed some time to get used to each other’s enthusiasm. But after a couple of days, they started to settle down and it looks like LOVE IS IN THE AIR! 💞
They still have a long way to go together, but the first signs look very promising. When the time is right, the next steps in their socialisation process will be discussed with our behavioural experts. In the meantime, we will keep a close eye on the lovely couple, monitor their progress and keep you updated!

I've been watching the short the last 10 minutes without stopping. Nikolas and Vasilyna ❤️ The same beginning in their life's story and now together. Nikolas was a baby when he escaped from his prison and wandered in Montenegro... Vasilyna in Ukraine... Thank you so much Four 🐾 🐾 ❤️

Mark is doing very well, loving his outdoor forest enclosure and enjoying his favourite food - grapes, watermelon, cucumber, walnuts without shells, and peanuts. @@lilym2432 Ditto!! You are not alone....but ALL their rescues are so emotional! I follow them like a hawk.....those train tigers?....and those Sudan lions?....They go where no one else would dare to go....
