Thank you very much for your message and that you care for the wellbeing of Vasylyna! Exactly, she sustained superficial injuries, particularly during long-distance transports it is not uncommon for large animals such as big cats. In such cases, the animals might bump or scratch themselves against the crate’s surfaces, resulting in abrasions or small wounds on their faces or other body parts. Based on our experience, these kinds of injuries heal quickly and do not result in any complications. In Vasylyna’s case, the wound above her right eye is also superficial. The wound is still visible but is healing well. Best, the FOUR PAWS team

Since the outbreak of the war, a lot of zoos have been supported financially or through direct donations (food, medicine, etc. ) mainly by the EAZA fund but also by animal welfare organisation like FOUR PAWS. According to our information, the need for assistance in zoos in Ukraine has decreased in recent months, after the situation in some parts of the country of Ukraine has improved a little, but EAZA is still coordinating the collection of relief funds for Ukrainian zoos and will further on.
