If they put something like a windows virtual machine on a console, it would be crazy... Imagine a console playing all kinds of game emulators from past generations of all platforms and PC games, using the developer mode to allow anyone to instal this kind of programs? This would easily make a boom the console market! Here in my economically screwed country, all of my friends who have a Nintendo Switch, for example, only use it with jailbreak.

For example, imagine if Square's had the balls of steel to remake their big RPGs, if games like Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, Wild Arms, Vagrant Story, even the other FFs, etc... received the same treatment as FF7? Those guys would be swimming in rivers of money, because they have so many excellent games gathering dust on their shelves and most of today's players don't know these franchises!

I mean if a platform can make a 'safe' play by porting older games / updating them to graphically and mechanically play better on current consoles and those ported / updated games do well enough it can be an indicator of old fan and new ones want the company to invest effort into making a new installment. Fans of any game can gush about their childhood game up and down the internet, but its another when they prove that love by buying the game again. I and many pothers were the same way about Gigantic wishing it would come back, then it did and I bought it. Played maybe 5 matches and then stopped playing because it didn't feel fun to play at the state it was in.

A remake I would like to see would be Psychonauts on the OG Xbox. I loved the second one, but I just could not go back and play the first. It was way too dated. A good remake could solve that issue.

Xbox should reintroduce Xbox Snap and the ability to buy a physical version of a game and a digital version it simultaneously. They could do it by having the disc used as an unlock key but I'm not a tech guy so idk if it's possible.

They reason companies don't include digital copies with a physical copy is because one of two things would happen. First that disc could then be sold or returned and the buyer still retains a copy of the game this isn't ideal for the seller. Second the disc would have to be linked to a single buyer making it unsellable without some kind of additional key or purchase (which has been done in the past). This route isn't ideal for buyers.

@ console. Quick resume alone is the best and one of the most underrated features of any console. Add in gamepass to the mix and it’s everything I need. The only thing Xbox is missing is a handheld. If they had dropped one this gen, they would really be up. Everything down controller to the ease of use is just butter. My PlayStation literally collects dust. They have nothing worth my interest. Maybe last generation, but they are cooked this gen

There is a plus side to giving most exclusives to PlayStation and switch. Think about this they will have 2/3 more sales which will increase their gaming developing abilities. They'll be more money in the pot for Xbox as a whole. They will grow exponentially I believe.

I like Xbox's strategy. I just want them to be clear. Keep the old gsmed exclusive and then going forward apply the case by case to new games. Announce which titles will be multiplatform and which ones won't and stick with it. Eventually people will stfu about it. The problem is putting the old games on PS "confuses" people and is pointless because these old games won't sale on PS. Make it clear when the game is announced what's Multiplatform, times and truly exclusive and don't go back on it.

IF Xbox does the plans that we have been hearing of with Steam and Epic on the next console and they keep it around the same price it is now (700-900 AUD) then it is a smart decision because you could play anything on it, it would be 200 bucks cheaper then a PS (insert number here) and half the price of a gaming pc

When we talk about exclusivity, I think it is important to understand that the casual fan does not care. There are so many games out there that a few exclusives are not going to force someone to purchase a new console. I have been gaming since the NES and have kids and a demanding career. I will not buy a PS5, not because I dislike PlayStation, but because I don't have the time to invest in a new ecosystem. We have several Xboxes in this house, and my boys will likely always be Xbox people now. If I could purchase GOW on my Xbox, I would, but I won't purchase a new console for the game. That is what the majority of casual gamers are doing, and they make up a large percentage of gamers.

With Xbox being my primary console of choice since the original, I can honestly say that doesn't look to continue. Exclusives are the reason we buy specific consoles. Yes, there will be Playstation exclusives which will require a Playstation to play. Why would I also spend $500+ to buy an Xbox console, if every game I want to play, including games from Microsoft, are available on my Playstation?

If Xbox starts making more money on each game than sony does expect Sony to return the favor...not because it is a favor but because they want our money too. Even though I already have a ps5 many don't and won't ever have one. If the next box is a good one that offers free upgrades or upscaling and improved ray tracing that exceeds the PS5 pro, count me in on day one. Even if the Xbox and ps6 launch the same day I will get Xbox first if I can get my hands on one.

Here's the problem with Phil Spencer's comments - software drives console sales, not the other way around. Nobody picks hardware first and THEN hopes it'll have good games later. History has shown us time & time again that weaker, less powerful consoles outsell more powerful & capable ones all the time. Saying you want hardware to sell itself based on its own features SOUNDS cool, until you think about it for more than 2 seconds. You don't play hardware, you play games. And if all your games are available on other hardware, while simultaneously Sony & Nintendo (and many 3rd parties) are NOT putting their games on your hardware, people will stop buying Xbox. And that's bad for the entire industry.

FF7 Rebirth's PC port has so much stuttering that it's basically unplayable for me. 40,000 concurrent players is pretty good for a SP game, but even Dragon Age Veilguard had 70,000+. If Square wants PC players to keep supporting them, they have to put more effort into their ports & give proper PC options in their games.

Ori director guy has always been kind of a d-bag. I remember when the Bloodstained kickstarter was just getting started, he wanted to shoot it down on NeoGAF and talk about how it's outdated and old compared to Ori. Also, his reasoning for No Rest not being a Microsoft published game didn't play out, since the game is currently Steam only while it's on Early Access, which is delaying it's multiplatform release by presumably 2 or 3 years, and I'm pretty sure it would have ended up on other platforms anyway, like a lot of the indie games they published did. ie: Below

A lot of these Japanese publishers seem to not understand the concept of multiplatform releases, and being a 3rd party publisher. Took Square 30 years to get it, took Sega 25, and now Tecmo is remembering. Maybe the smaller studios can't afford to hit all platforms day one...

@@ahmedmmasri I disagree on that point. They are in no position to demand it, true, but they are in a position to negotiate it. They could easily keep doom the dark ages, Indiana Jones, outer worlds 2, the next elder scrolls, fallout, etc exclusive to the Xbox platform. All games that are likely to do very well when they are released. Instead they are just bringing them to the PS5 and Nintendo. Giving themselves more revenue, but at the cost of giving those platforms extra marketability, while reducing their own consoles viability. If they decided to keep their first party games exclusive (except for COD) they could've easily started taking back some of the market share they lost due to previous failures. And that is what they could've used to negotiate an exchange of games. Instead they've decided to become a 3rd party publisher.
