If Paul never did anything else, his performance of "My Dad" on the program would be enough to place him in the list of all-time most special and memorable moments in TV history. I've never made it through that performance without tears. In those days they rarely recognized kids for performances on TV and music. But Paul was most deserving of an Emmy & a Grammy for that performance. Yet Paul has so many additional accomplishments to be proud of and I salute him.

I had watched it back in the late 80's early 90's on Nick @ Nite...I fell in love with this wonderful family, the Stones. I even bought the Donna Reed Show watch...loved it. Sadly I now longer have it. 🥺 I discovered the D.R.S. on TUBI and Now I watch it again, but I love the 4th season (the Johnny Angel, season). ❤️ I have followed Paul back from when he started a Minor Consideration and sharing on all the talk shows. What great work he has done with this and has helped so many ! His personal story is so interesting, Im so glad you were able to finally able to find a time to get together & visit!! He just knew them, met them along the way, befriended them. what an extraordinary man. i was touched that he reached out to help jay north. i briefly met dr. jeannie russell at one of those hollywood autograph conventions. totally down to earth and friendly….. and wise to realize that she needed to pursue a career outside of show business. i asked her about the cast’s reaction to the passing of the first mr. wilson, joseph kearns. she said everyone was shocked and saddened. she said he was kind and gentle and totally unlike the role he played. can you reach out to her for an interview? and jay north as well?

Thank you John for your sharing this intimate interview. Paul is an amazing man. He was instrumental intervening with a friend of mine, who was a child actor back in the 1960’s. He always took the time and energy to reach out and be there. Love to you and Paul💕

SIR Paul Peterson should have gone on to have success in movies etc. ALAS something slowed his career to a crawl and finally a inglorious fade out. I so hoped he would be a big star . I always loved Paul and his good looks.

True, but maybe Paul's calling was in helping others in the acting world make it through the chaos.

Oh my gosh if you have not seen the movie Bill you have to. What an amazing movie. My kids grew up watching this movie. Unfortunately when I brought it up at Christmas to my son, who is soon to be 39 he did not remember it and I’m like how can you not remember that movie. It was the most amazing movie. That movie 1981 and Winnie with Meredith Baxter Birney in 1988. That’s two movies my kids watched probably as reruns on cable in the 90s. Very early 90s.

A bit late in getting to finally watch this. What a fabulous man and interview. So when do parts 7 & 8 come out? lol. The Donna Reed show is a little bit before my time but I do remember seeing Paul here and there. Like you I wanted to hear more from him. Great stories and memories for him. Thanks again John for all you do.

So sorry to see this icon in apparent ill-health. Betz was from my town, Pittsburgh, An exceptional actor. See "Judd for the Defense". Wonder how his real-life sister is, who played his TV adopted sister.

Great program. Recognized most of the names, most are/were younger than me so I usually read something about them in a magazine or spotted them in the odd program. Family shows w/kids weren't really enjoyable to me, some I occasionally watched. The series with Stuart Erwin and his wife June Collyer with Jackie ? as the younger daughter was the only 'family' show I watched regularly. Love of money, greedy parents who thought it would go on forever like the kids' fame.

Wow i had my heart attack in Cherokee Iowa as a truck driver delivering to a grocery DC in Cherokee and they had to fly me by helicopter to soix city Iowa to a hospital that had the facilities to handle my heart attack because Cherokee Iowa was to small a city or town, there wasn't even a tr 7:08 uck stop there and i stayed on the property of the grocery DC and the ambulance came there to get me, i know i think he said Cherokee county but there is a town called Cherokee also.

Mickey Rooney had every right to be angry at his treatment in Hollywood'later years.I remember one year at the Oscars not sure if it was Billy Crystal or Steve Martin but they commented "Oh look there's Paris Hilton right up front..and way way back there there'Mickey Rooney Well after commercial break Mickey was bought up front. Rooney was great on an episode of The Figitive

Paul is just the best, and always was. BTW, CEO wives are usually 9 out of 10 famous for RUINING many shows with their awful "housewifey" opinions. So it's wonderful to finally see in one of Paul's recollections that for once a bosslady by marriage actually made a GOOD call!
