The train service from Banihal-Sangaldan to Reasi is set to extend following a successful final trial on June 28, 2024. Commissioner Railway Safety (CRS) conducted a trial achieving speeds of 100 kilometers per hour on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project's Reasi-Sangaldan section. The route includes passage through nine tunnels totaling 40.787 kilometers, with the longest being Tunnel T-44 at 11.13 kilometers. Notably, the inaugural train at 100 km/hour traversed the iconic Dugga-Bakkal bridge over the Chenab River, recognized as the world’s highest arch railway bridge. This milestone clears the way for the awaited extension of the rail service to Reasi.
