Roll with it for a year but on the low; build up a plan and commercial vendor base of stores and brand ambassadors (entertainment celebs, athletes, etc.) ready to blow it out of the box wearing the *DD* gear during fashion week, All-Star Week, etc. Get silent partners like Kani, Diddy, Daymon John, etc. There are mad possibilities.

I appreciate Mr. Kani’s honesty. He learned how to tap into the international market with his designs, much like musical artists who reach an impasse in the U.S & go overseas to work because their talent is respected & as artists, they are revered. We don’t value our artists or designers enough. To this day, I have to yet to see a documentary that thoroughly covers & honors the contributions of Black designers to the fashion industry & I would love to see that. Growing up, seeing a young Black man design & run his own company meant something to me. I sported my Kani pieces proudly & I am glad to see that he is reintroducing his designs to the U.S market. I hope that he can garner the support that he deserves.

I think this another example of what Dapper Dan was talking about and it seems super simple and obvious to me...but its clearly not that easy. Dapper Dan wants to be luxury...not just a brand. No disrespect to Karl Kani...he's a legend but if it just that easy to do then what happened to his brand? I think Dapper Dan is thinking SMART. Karl had a streetwear brand, not a luxury brand. Theres a difference.

WHEN DID HE SAY IT WAS EASY?!?
@Fashionswarrior5 жыл бұрын
@@gemneyebable I didn't say he said that but he definitely implied never understanding why Dapper Dan wouldn't just take his own name and start something. Watch the Dapper Dan interviews and you'll understand what I mean.

Dapper Dan can’t Be compared to ANY hip hop clothing line. Bc his target consumer isn’t the everyday joe. He’s a LUXURY DESIGNER LIKE GUCCI, LOUIS, TOM FORD, Etc. Karl Kani, Sean John, Rocawear is “urban/street wear. NONLUXURY brands

Basically he's DOING what dapper dan is saying black designers NEED to do as far as getting international distribution. Dapper Dan reminds me of Rick Ross in that he doesn't want to ask anyone for help because of that ego and (mentally) living off of what he had back in the day.
