A lot of people don't know this but the McLaren V8 is actually a Nissan design. Nissan's R390 GT1 Le Mans entry in 1997 had a twin-turbo 3.5 liter aluminum V8 the VRH35. The McLaren V8 is based on. McLaren chose the VRH35 for the basis of its engine program and bought the rights to it from TWR. McLaren named it the M838T and it was first in the MP4-12C in 2011. Just an interesting fact.

3 things. Sorry Jay, but tuners can indeed up the power considerably - especially on turbo carx Wont be as long lasting, may well go beyond what the tyres can handle, might not be as smooth power delivery But it def can be done Why Pirelli only ? Michelin are head and shoulders better Spider is lovely, but dont dsregard the Coupe Coupe is a whole lot easier for taller or disabled (and im both) to get in and out of if roof closed due to those cutouts in the roof. Plus a dog fits nicely on the parcel shelf ;)

I personall love the sound of a car smoothly reving down from higher RPMs. And on another note, the last couple of Garage road videos seem to show Jay paying more attention to staying between the lines rather that wandering aimlessly around in one lane. Thank you Jay for that as it has bugged me for years.

Agreed. I like my cars smooth, quiet and comfortable, which is why I drive an S-Class and no longer buy sports cars. I'm getting bored with supercars anyway. Too expensive to buy, too expensive to insure, too expensive to maintain and you can't drive them anywhere for fear of bottoming them out, having them vandalized or getting a speeding ticket. Too noisy, cramped and stiff riding too. Would I love to drive one on a closed track? Of course, but I have no desire to own one. The craziest I'd get is maybe a 991 Turbo of some variety.

Of all the Hyper Car companies, I believe McLaren is the best. There's no "exclusivity list" -anyone can buy one. They have top technology, performance, and reliability. Their cars are made to be drivable, and high performance numbers are an afterthought to design. Are they worth their price tag? Who knows, time will tell. But the 25 years have been owned by McLaren
