I understand why they radicalised, because they feel there land was stolen, and that's actually what happened. Abbas in the Westbank is much more realistic, but unfortunately, because he is more reasonable, Israël keeps colonising the Westbank and taking advantage of it. So yeah it's like you can't solve anything with Israël, it's quite clear they actually want to drive the Palestinians out, that's why I believe there will never be a two state solution as long as the VS keeps backing Israël in every crime they commit. Because if Palestine becomes sovereign, they can't steal land anymore. Despite everything, there are too many leaders who are not fit to serve in any position of authority. The world, and in particular the West, has far too many of these types in leadership positions today. Nuremburg is 80 years in the rearview mirror at this point, and has itself been abused and misused over the totality of its existence. Let the world make this a turning point, and at the very least draw a line in the sand against the funding and militarisation of terrorist states by political administrations around the globe.

@@Askme2200 I believe according to international law, combatants have be active duty and clearly marked as soldiers. Once soldiers revert to civilian life/jobs they are no longer legally considered combatants. Unarmed Israeli reservists who have NOT been called up would be considered civilians and protected peoples, whereas those who have been actively called up would be considered legal combatants.

Nope, nuclear weapons and current economic ties are what keeps us out of a third world war. Wars between individual countries still happen and the ICC and all the international laws can't seem to do anything about it. The war between Russia and Ukraine is still going on, and the ICC hasn't made much progress on arresting Putin. International law didn't prevent the Israel/Hamas war, or countless others. Think about it. They only way the ICC could stop a war is by using military force. But if they do that, uh-oh, they just joined a war. Now there's more war instead of less.

As a staunch supporter of Israel, what Karim Khan is saying holds solid. I think it is particularly poignant where he draws the metaphor of air brushing the nationality out and focusing only on the evidence. I think this is evident by his team issuing the warrants for both sides of this conflict and aiming them at key figures. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out given Israel's lack of membership to the ICC and the ICC's lack of enforcement. But no doubt a historical moment for international law and justice.

You cannot "airbrush" out the nationality since you first have to decide if the court has jurisdiction over a particular country. There's a serious legal argument that they don't have jurisdiction i Israel since they have not ratified the Rome Statute, and since palestine is not a state. Even if the Court says they are a state for the purposes of adhering to the Court, it doesn't make it so in reality. To be a state under international Law you must have defined borders, a government, defence forces, direct acess to your terroritory.... none of which apply to the Palestinian territories today.
