What possible advantage, tactically or strategically, would the IDF expect to get from sending in armed quadcopters to shoot small children? The thing that is necessary, then, is to nail down the speakers conviction on the validity of this source, because that then ties his conviction to his reputation, and allows it to be treated as a valid deposition of someone who is essentially a witness to a crime. Think of it like this. In the potentiality that those kids were not telling the truth (perhaps they werent lying but just didnt have the full information available), but he was convinced of it due to his sympathy and the trauma of the environment around him at that time. It then brings into question the validity of other things he has been convinced of within the confines of the case in question. It is necessary to treat legal proceedings with clinical precision, because emotional, sentimental thought patterns are not heuristically, nor epistemologically, useful.
