Author Julia Cameron talks about anger and envy as clues: not to be acted out, but to be acted on. That has helped me to step forward with my agency intact more often. I love how you’ve brought up the element of enmity to others AND/OR to oneself. Oof, shame: “you shouldn’t even try.” And the cure for envy and shame, as you’ve stated so well here… is charity.
