Interesting interview. I've just started using QSPICE with rather simple magnetic LR circuit. Neat tool.

A VERY important things that s spice simulator should do is IMPORT ANY P-Spice & LTSpice models, otherwise it is near useless for most people. Even if the process is to convert it to QSpice format.

Eddie...great interview with Mike...I tried Qspice but I keep getting an error all the time with the plot V(OUT) and the OUT on the output...I am confused as to the proper way to this command...thank you...aa 4:39

Thanks for your feedback. I would agree that PSpice files are very useful - but LTspice files - to me are less useful. But there is a format that all these 'SPICE' machines use, so QSPICE can import these. Got to remember, Mike wrote LTspice, so his new QSPICE will be able to do much more and support the important types of files that most users want or need. I will be doing a monthly series of tutorials and giving away shirts - I think:)
@KissAnalog7 ай бұрын
@andrewandrianos8511 Yes, I will do a tutorial very soon. I've been waiting as I think I am going to be able to give shirts away supported by Qorvo for QSPICE. I'll start a monthly series - maybe even more often if people are interested.

Great interview Eddie, very interesting and informative to hear the history of the development of LTSpice and QSpice. I certainly liked the loopgain measurement method of the wolverine amplifier. I've never seen that used before. I'll give it a try on LTspice. The only difference is we measure the major and minor loops. Our method allows us to measure both loops at once. I'm going to download and try QSpice to see its compatibility. Just for fun.

Thanks Stuart!! I think QSPICE will be interesting for you yo try. You can try your method for comparison.

This was a great interview. 1. How to simulate a VHDL or digital design with or into a DAC circuit or from a ADC circuit. 2. Does Mike plan to get a team to write a user manual?

Thank you - and great questions! There are updates literally every day so let's see. Maybe we can get a follow up interview to ask these questions?

For the LED, what model did you originally use? Was it default diode model? If so, isn’t there already a default Cjo?
@yjweaver51085 ай бұрын
Mike mentioned you should have capacitance across all nonlinear devices- I assume these should be realistic values that are actually present, like across all junctions of a transistor. If this is the case, why don’t default models include this already?

Great interview and demo! Mike definitely is a legend and deserves the accolades. I have a question: So, which sim-tool should a devote my extremely limited amount of brain-cells to; QSpice or MicroCap. Will you be doing any comparisons? Thanks Eddie and 73...

Thanks for your feedback! LOL I’ll do some comparison videos:)

Please pass some questions on to Mike Engelhardt Mike, I'm fighting with Qspice on a few issues. It's beginning kind of stuff...I find myself having to repeatedly enter schematic info before it takes. Probably I'm adding confusing crap that I only scrub away after the 4th try. I guess I miss the menus behind older gui's that helped set up parts...for instance, a voltage source, for its dc voltage, ac magnitude, and/or step response. The stuff where it gives you hints is awesome...and I like the general manner of the interface...It's just a little too telegraphic for where I am. Also, are there some tutorials on the power user stuff? E.g. repeating loop gain at a variety of DC voltages to see and measure phase margin. Getting high gain amp stages to converge in less than 1 minute reliably. there use to be ways to .savbias and loadbias, but that seems to have gone away, from the docs, at least. Anything you could direct me to would be awesome. At this point, I'm capturing schematics and simming, and it's feeling more streamlined, but I can tell I'm not really mining the main vein. thanks... Dan

While the interview with this gentleman is interesting, I'm certain that the man wants QSpice to become more widespread. Consequently, if there were more practical videos ju-u-u-s-t past the odious "Noobs learn XSpice in just 8 minutes" blather, the users could reach the point where the SPICE simulation tools could be actually useful. Sadly, while QSpice looks promising, its documentation so horridly skimpy and the KZbin videos devoid of meaningful substance.

Thanks for your feedback! I am going to start doing more tutorials of QSPICE. I do think that Mike is on his way to making this the LTspice improvement.
