On October 7, the day Hamas terrorists began their attacks along the Gaza border, Jimmy Pacheko was taken hostage. After more than 50 days as a prisoner of Hamas, he's finally home and he's sharing his story of survival and his gratitude to God for his freedom.
"When I was taken out of the house, I didn't expect them to spare me because I witnessed my employer being killed mercilessly," he said.
Jimmy lived in a kibbutz where he was a caregiver to an elderly man who was immediately killed by Hamas. In an exclusive interview, Jimmy talked about his harrowing experience.

The answer to your question about how is it possible to be that strong mentally. It was because the Lord God Jesus Christ kept his mind mentally strong. He had faith in the Lord, prayed to the Lord too save him from the harsh situation he was going through. He was focused on the Lord through all those days being captive. Sometimes there is situations in life where we won’t no how to handle certain things to a point and the only way to get through it and overcome them is by having faith in the Lord God, pray to him in his name Jesus Christ and allow him to intervene and fight our battles for us and help us. Actually that is what the Lord tells us to do just allow him to fight our battles for us. (Exodus 14:14)The Lord will fight for you and you shall hold your peace. That is the unconditional Love that the Lord God has for us all. That he will always be there for us, hear our prayers and help us through any hardships we may go through. By the way, his employer was an 80 year old man with Parkinson's who had a walker. Hamas killed him anyway. Jimmy Pacheco was lucky they spared him. Another Filipino caregiver /nurse by the name of Angeline Aguirre was killed together with her elderly ward. Ms. Aguirre had a chance to escape but she refused to abandon her patient. So they were both slaughtered. She just got married in Sept. 2022. Like Mr. Pacheco above they worked hard overseas to provide a better future for their extended family. Have worked with Filipinos for about 20 years and are some of the most hard working and kind people u can find. Their hardships in life also make them mentally strong, so I am not surprised by the survival instincts and motivation of the man. To a filipino, family is everything. But in this story, the real issue had gone missing. The way Gazans bid good bye to the hostages was shocking. All this while I did have a benefit of doubt that the locals are also suffering in the hands of the masked soldiers but it did not seem to be the case.
