I think people are just obsessed with talking about like say one note from say 2020 and saying it sounds like 95 Mariah etc. It’s just all I see and she can change her tone whenever she wants. I’m pretty sure she had to start singing light because of the nodules more than an artistic style choice. Personally I’ll always prefer her first two albums over the rest as far as top notch vocals. When she started whispering 75 percent of every song after 97 it got really hard for me to appreciate her voice as much even though it was still incredibly unique

You strike me as someone who doesn't know anything about Mariah's vocal journey. She has vocal nodes. And she's had them since very early on in her childhood. This makes her voice inconsistent and even in her prime there were instances where her nodules would reign supreme. That coupled with her overworking and always recording made her voice lose traction. But it doesn't matter. She still does the best with what's left and we have the memories.
