I would love a place where I could look at and try art supplies but CAN'T buy them. I need to use up what I have but I love seeing and trying new things

Honestly, in the end, this worked out for the best. I got to scratch that art supply itch without breaking the bank, so it ended up being better for the ol wallet.

Thanks for this. I want to acknowledge your effort in putting this together. I have visited the European equivalent of NAMTA, called Creativeworld in Frankfurt, as I live in 🇩🇪.It was fascinating and exhausting! I wasnt even filming! These are.suoer interesting insights. I am going to hop off to see the interviews and demos. Thanks again.

This was so interesting! As an aside, Becca, it’s great to see how at ease you seem on the camera these days. #goals I can hope to approach that comfort level someday.

Anxiety meds go a long way! I was managing a migraine every day through the show, so some of that might also just be I didn't have the energy to be overly anxious? I appreciate you noticing and your kind words either way though- I've been working hard to manage my anxiety!

I love Beam paints - if you convince your local brick and mortar to carry them I really hope you grab some! Their products are beautiful and I really love how much they focus on "gift" type products - often art "gift" set lines are from student/hobby quality brands and as every "art friend" knows - we get gifted these often and never end up using them. Would love to see you review them, or any other handmade brands!

I love Stoneground so I’m super glad that their presentation and class seems to have been top tier. And for the price, they were super generous with their samples cuz their pans are easily $10+ each 😂

SMLT was one of the brands on sale at the art shop I recently visited in Brussels (also they had the Hahnemühle sugarcane paper). I was super tempted but I have too much paper already so I didn't buy any but I'd be super interested in seeing a review from you!

I would be the pne "getting in trouble" with that MINI-KNIFE KEY - CHAIN??? Yikes...I would have to keep my distance. I appreciate your awesome reporting attributes about this trade show...it has been interesting...May I ask...what you mean ...when you say you have "PROCESSING ISSUES"? What does that term mean to you? I am only asking because it rings a bell with myself...I cannot put my finger on it...and have recently been given Adderall for an ADD diagnosis @ nearly 70 years of age. Thank you Becky for all you do and so sorry to hear of your migraines...and I can't believe you still kept on going! I love your positive attitude and keeness about ALL THINGS ART RELATED...Just love hearing your excitement...wishing you all the best from The Yukon Canada...Janis

I think in general that a lot of places are no where near as accessible as they could be, even in cases where being more accessible is in the bussiness's best interest. I do very little of my own retail shopping in person any more. But the last time I went to Target I noticed a gentleman sitting on the base of a kids' clothing display and I realized it was because on the interior of this giant retail store, there was really no good place to sit and rest. It would be by far in their best interest to make their stores more accessible since they sell more when people are comfortably able to stay and browse for longer. I can't figure out at all why no care is taken for this.

I totally agree, there are a lit of people who are poor on foot or long standing and I dread walking on the concrete floors of box stores. It wood behoove all store to finally incorporate sitting opportunities.

I want one of the magnetic paint palettes and a collapsible paint puck cup! I would love to try the stoneground watercolor but it's so expensive for me to acquire. I know it costs money to make and they aren't being unreasonable, but I cant justify the price when I can buy lots of other artist quality watercolors for cheaper. Maybe if they made a little themed set or something.

Are there any artist-centered events anymore? You mentioned Art of the Carolinas and one other, and neither of those seem to be running (I’m guessing due to Covid). I loved watching your videos on Creativation and your discussion about it with The Frugal Crafter, but I’m now finding myself wishing I could find an event where I could go to try things out and take classes! I don’t need to be showered with freebies, but I’d love to be able to play with supplies I might not otherwise try out without a bit of guidance and some instruction first.

Just a quick note from your introduction, I hope you have an opportunity to give feedback on the show and vendors and education offered by the vendors/manufacturers. If not I hope you can take some initiative as a dues paying member and give feedback, like the “crazy” early registration time! Ok onto your video! I am also a huge fan of the Paint Puck! I even use one in my oil paint rinse cup!

Yanno, I'm not sure we were given a designated opportunity to leave feedback- I'll have to check through my emails and see if there is a survey! But you're right, I should make sure they hear feedback, particularly regarding accessibility concerns. Its not so much that the registration was too early, or even ended too early, it was the lack of notification of open and close times in the week prior. I might've planned things a little differently if I'd known registration would be closed by 5PM, as missing the Mardi Gras Social ended up being a really huge missed opportunity!

Thank, you, because I really enjoyed listening to this video while I worked on a project. Could you please tell me, what is in the top left hand corner at 1:06:00? Also, are you an online instructor? A curriculum developer and instructor? Is it important to mention that or do all instructors/teachers develop their own curriculum? A learning designer? Or a teaching artist? What do people call themselves when they create webcourses? I think to me, you fit more in that artist and online art educator category than in the influencer category. Although, I've definitely bought things as a direct consequence of watching you. I'm smiling BIG when I say that, because I love it! At the end of the day, what you really are though, is an artist and author who does those other things. Or are you an artist who does those other things, who is also an author? Only you can say. 🎉

My family has lived in St Charles Parish for a really really long time. I'm not QUITE from New Orleans, but I DID attend and live at UNO for undergrad. We have no Cajun in us that I'm aware of- perhaps a smidge Creole. I grew up in the area, moved away for a few years to pursue career opportunities that just don't exist here, and found myself missing my family and the food too much to stay away. Now I make Louisiana comics while living in Louisiana!

I'm not super sure what you're asking regarding how I'm an art educator, but I'll do my best to answer. I've talked about it in depth over the years, and have shared vlogs where I prepped for classes. I'm the daughter of a teacher, and grew up watching my mother prep for classes. When I was in undergrad, I volunteered as a student teacher under the Talented Art Teacher, and helped prepare classes, class materials, and did portfolio reviews. While in grad school, I participated in a middle school comics in the curriculum program that taught reading comprehension skills to middle schoolers, I student taught officially at East Broad, an elementary school, and Garrison, an arts charter school (elem and middle). At Garrison, I led the after school art tutoring program, and helped students prepare their portfolios so they could apply to the arts highschool. I also proctored a couple of the admissions tests, but I wouldn't really consider that teaching, as I just sat in there and made sure no one cheated. I also student taught at the undergraduate level and mentored. After graduation, I pitched and created workshops that I taught at conventions across the country, taught with various libraries, and taught three semesters with the local community ed (so highschoolers and adults). I currently teach art and drawing classes through public libraries. In general, since I teach a fairly specialized curriculum, I create all of my own classes and class materials including demos. Sometimes I share the prep as tutorials here on the channel. It's a lot of work, and my health has gotten worse with Sjogen's, so I have scaled back the number of libraries I offer classes through, but I hope that my health will improve and I can offer more classes in the future. I don't really consider myself an influencer for a variety of reasons- I'm a person with a special interest, and share that special interest on KZbin. I don't generally work with companies, nor do I have a large enough following on any platform for most companies to consider me worth working with. And I don't earn a living off social media. I'm good with all of this. I think you're probably just encouraging me to find terminology that works for me though, and I appreciate that

I cracked and bought my first set of Silver Black Velvet brushes because of Becca (what a game-changer they were!) they, QOR, Da Vinci and Blick should totally sponsor her, haha. Though I guess part of why her reviews and opinions are so trustworthy (whether you agree with them or not, you know she’s being 100% honest with herself and her audience) is that you know she’s buying everything she reviews. It is possible, but difficult to be uninfluenced when you received something as a gift or compensation - I think The Frugal Crafter does a great job at honestly reviewing materials she is sent, for example.. but also, it’s nice for not *everything* on YT to be always about buying something. Becca’s honesty means that often it’s about *not buying* the supply 😆

Thanks for sharing. Please consider eliminating a lot of your hand gestures. Even when your torso is not on the screen, your hands are fluttering all over and are very distracting from the product on which you are focusing. Often your busy hands obscure the product you are showing. It takes time to learn how to deal with media. Good luck!
