The older I get, the more I realize people like Mr. Stallone are brilliant. It takes a genius to create dumb simple movies that touch your heart.

Rocky was not a dumb movie, a very touching intelligent beautiful movie. Pretty Woman, now that was a dumb movie.

stallone should thank the intern doctor. If it weren't for him, he wouldn't have been perfect as rocky! But, really. Stallone is an example of someone that rises beyond the crap that life gave him. Some people give up or commit suicide when the going gets tough, but the tough gets going! He wasn't born with a silver spoon or given any chance but he believe in himself and go for it and putting everything he got on the line. He wouldn't have succeed and still be alive now, if he didn't take bull by it's horn! Definitely, a great man and a legend!

He's a primo example of a guy who used his weaknesses or uniqueness to his advantage. Without question he must have known that his paralyzed lip gave him a mean looking snarl that was perfect for playing tough guys, fighters, and I think that's one of the reasons he insisted on playing Rocky, he knew he was perfect for it and he was. The freakin' studios wanted Ryan O'Neal or Robert Redford playing Rocky, can you imagine?
@freaker126

freaker126 you are 100% right, I know from experience, although I’ve yet to “Break Through”, I don’t quit because I know if I do, I’ll probably end up dead. There is no turning back, actually, there’s nothing to turn back to, life is short and a day is not promised, so, if you’re gonna try, go all the way. It helps when one is single, that way I don’t subject anyone else to my selfish “Dreams”!!! If I fail, I fail myself and not a family. Anyway, unless you take a shot, you’ll always wonder “what if”!!! Thanks for sharing.

I always hear or read that, that the LEFT side of his face was paralyzed by forceps when he was born, but in actuality it is the right side of his face. It's the right side that droops

The LEFT side is paralyzed, that's why the right side droops.

He lost his way at some point, gave up on trying to make responsible movies that contribute to humanity. He made a few, which is more than most people so his career is still a success but he did waste time on blockbuster garbage, even if those movies are enjoyable. I'm not saying he shouldn't have made them but he stopped making the meaningful stuff, apart from the Rocky movies (which all have great moments of humanity, even 5). Did he attempt to do any genuine, humane work in the 90s after Rocky 5? Copland? Everything else is either enjoyable formulaic shallow nonsense or total trash. He stopped making real movies until Balboa. And despite Taratinto wanting him for a decade it never worked out, Stallone blaming scheduling. I think he was afraid of making real movies, Rocky 6 aside. Thank God he was finally convinced to do Creed.
