I helped a guy start his race engine shop in the early nineties and worked for him a few years after I retired. His shop was all manual machines, mills, lathes, balancers, etc. The newest machines were Sunnen honing and surfacing machines that started to bridge into electronic interfaces. Looking at this shop and seeing where the industry has gone is amazing.

I’m having a local machine shop build a little SBC 383 vortec motor built, and his shop is full of OLD manual mills, lathes, etc. The new techs probably better by a lot, but I wanted to support a semi-retired craftsman with 40 years experience. I’ll go high tech next time just to try it out. It’s all good

It was very cool watching the bes tour. I had a pair of Yates heads and a intake done up on those machines about 4 months ago and talked to a guy named Preston many times. Looked like they did a hell of a job and we’re gonna find out in a couple weeks just how good. Lol. If I can get 4.60s out of my little sbf, I will be a happy camper!! Just need a tin solider race car to stick it in now!!

The seals in that duramax filter housing are cheap and super easy to replace. It will prevent the need to push the primer pump after it sits a while. Fix it! Love the engine content. Boost ready LS would be sweet.

For your giveaway idea I would build a 496 BBC with a 871 blower of a old school Detroit with blower bypass and twin turbos to boot! Even throw a little gas gas to her and really have all 3 power adders!

I’d say an LS would reach the masses. I know everyone claims it’s boring and over done yet everyone is still doing it for good reason. I’d think more people would get into the giveaway if they would actually keep and use the engine. Coyote isn’t it or even a BBC. Though a BBC or SBC would be good too if an LS is out of the question.🤷‍♂️

If you're interested in cleaning aluminum without giving it the old acid white look then get yourself some citric acid, its biodegradable and works well with cleaning all metals and fiberglass. Just about anything you can think of to clean. You have to dilute it accordingly and can find the dilution chart by doing a internet search.
