Nightlife in Praia is crazy....try going out to Kebra Canela on a friday night u will see You should go to Tarrafal, which is a city all the way on the other side of the island, less than 2 hours drive.

We truly enjoyed our Family 8 day trip to Praia! We had a tour guide who took us all over the island. The weather was awesomely boring (everyday was sunny, warm with a gentle ocean breeze! The people were very friendly and accommodating! My only regret was not knowing how to speak the language!

There are many interesting places that can be shown such as: Jean Piaget University, University of Cape Verde, University of Santiago, School of Hotel and Tourism…, Historical archive, National Library, Cultural Center, Museums, hospitals, palace of Government, National Assembly (Parliament Building) building, etc, etc. All of these are located on the island of Santiago. It would be very interesting for people to see these places.

@ yes sir! More than three in Santiago Island where is located the capital of Cape Verde, Praia. You have Jean Piaget, University of Santiago, University of Cape Verde, Instituto Superior de Ciências Jurídicas e Sociais (Higher Institute of Legal and Social Sciences)… You have around 9 universities in Cape Verde. There are also foreign students studying in Cape Verde. The majority are Capeverdeans.

My bro told you that Sao Vicente was the best Island. It’s not true, but it’s depend about what you want. Yes it’s better for ghe party, even the others are good also. instead Santiago is the capital, where you can find what exists in all other islands. Sal is like Europe, Boavista, nice beach, Santo Antao is a rural area with the nices panoramas. Fogo we have a Vulcan,… We are poor but happy. No war, and one of the best political systems democracy. hoo i forgot, we have the most beautiful women in the Africa.

Praia is pronounced like “Prah-yah” not Preeya or Prayer 😂😂😂 We pray a lot tho, very religious country 🙏🏼🤣

Go back to school. "Prah-yah" puts too much emphasis on the second syllable and uses a longer "ah" sound. The correct pronunciation in English is a softer, shorter "uh" sound on the second syllable, as in "pray-uh".

Cidade Velha (Old City) is where the settlement of Cape Verde began. It was the first settlement in Cape Verde founded in 1462 by Portuguese traders and a point of transatlantic slave trade. Today it is recognized as a World Heritage Site. The first paved street (Rua de Banana) on the west coast of Africa and the first church are located there. It was the site of successive pirate attacks and many buildings are in ruins, such as the Cathedral, among others. Some have been completely restored, such as the Chapel of Saint Francis of Assisi. A place rich in history. That is why there are no large modern buildings, because it is necessary to preserve its originality, since it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
