I have very little respect for doctors. My father was billed over $500,000.00 for his final stay in the hospital. The geriatric doctors kept trying to sell him on dialysis until the day he died. We had already privately been told by a doctor (who was only a replacement for one day when one doctor had a golf tournament to attend) that he was in end stage renal failure, that dialysis would be a waste and to prepare for the end. What they did to my mother was even worse. Geriatric doctors see insurance and Medicare dollar signs and when a patient dies, the excuse is "adult failure to thrive." May they all suffer and burn for what they put my people through at the end.

I work in a hospital. Doctors usually do the proper diagnosis and treatment. Once the patient is discharged and the papers are forwarded to the office, a non medical staff (also a part owner of the hospital), would change some lab results and sometimes the diagnosis just to reimburse a higher amount from medicare. We informed the doctor about this and she resigned right away. Not worth losing her license over.

Now how dumb is/was that,?
@jojomakes5 жыл бұрын
Victor Bunch The only thing dumb here is you and your question. What about Maria’s comment is confusing to you. Unethical medical “professionals” across the country are scamming the government (Medicare is a government program) out of millions and millions of dollars by way of fraudulent medical billing. The physicians are signing off on fake illnesses and conditions in order to collect money for unnecessary services. That means the government will put in more regulations so that this doesn’t happen. They’ll start requiring more than one doctor to sign off on paperwork. They’ll cut back on the amount of services they’re currently covering to streamline the process. Doctors and nurses who are already actually honest and ethical will now be hesitant to request certain services out of fear they may be wrongly red flagged. Elderly people who really need the home health services will now have to go through a bunch of different hoops and verification processes. This then slows down the entire process because of all the new standards and guidelines that have to be met. Do you get it now?

Ruin whatmy mother died at 75 and she was taking a handful of pills she believed everything her doctor told her and he didn't give a damn about her it was money
@goodnight633 жыл бұрын
To clarify: they mean it will ruin it for seniors because THOSE certain cases who NEED help, will now be considered “suspicious” Some people have a widowed parent who needs to stay with them, but no one is able to take care of them. Some elderly people can’t use the bathroom by themselves. It’s important to give care out like it’s candy. Medical care needs to be free in America and the closest thing to that is Medicare. If a company that makes more money than you could ever imagine gets “taken advantage of” well.... you are going to be old one day and when that happens you’ll wish healthcare was more accessible to the elderly.

He got fired for doing so soon after. It honestly makes it hard for the people really in need because now my brother who is indefinitely handicapped has to go the doctor every few months and get a signed paper saying he is still unable to do activities on his own as proof to the gvmt. Same thing happens with children and parents. We used to have “Medicaid” I think is what it was called for our kids at the time. Our children are healthy, nothing wrong with them. The doctor we were going to for them was wanting us to do all these test with our water source, (spring water) to ensure it was safe to drink. As if the previous generations in our family have ever had any problems with fresh spring water. She also insisted that we changed our kids diets to more unhealthy processed foods and cereals. She wanted us to use low fat milk. We use whole, on and on and so forth. My wife and I discussed the last visit we had and decided to find a new doctor. She did not like that phone call of us dropping her and wanting to find a new doctor. So she reported us to CPS. And in Virginia you are automatically guilty of all supposed accusations. That was a nightmare. Our rights were violated. Even after proving every allegation wrong. She didn’t like loosing that govt funded “healthcare”. We no longer pay for insurance. We have a doctor we pay cash to for every visit. And it has saved us over 800 fricking buck a month alone. Each visit for anything we’ve need has never been over 200 bucks cash yet. This doctor did not like losing her over played meal ticket she was abusing and reported us in retaliation. Hard to sue her though. CPS never discloses who makes said allegations. And after we proved the allegations wrong they didn’t investigate the doctor for wrong doing. They get paid for the same fucking thing !!!!!

They tried that with our well in NC too. They hate that they aren't able to fill our kids full of fluoride. The government is either absolutely obsessed with teeth or there is something more sinister going on with fluoride.

I'm not really sure how medical insurance works in the US, but here in Canada, since healthcare is free, doctors are constantly dismissing the elderly's health concerns and they like to blame it on "it's just old age". it's terrible. My grandmother almost died from a misdiagnosis, all because the dr was too lazy to actually do tests to figure out what was wrong. She ended up in the hospital with undiagnosed pneumonia a few days after her dr told her there was nothing wrong, shes just "old". Between the US and Canada, it's one extreme to the other. These are peoples lives they are fucking with. it's really sad.

I’m sorry your experience is like that. I am a Canadian who faced health challenges that would have bankrupted most Americans, especially those without private insurance. In my experience I have never had to wait for regular checkups or emergency treatment. When a patient in a hospital, I’ve had access to immediate tests and treatment, usually within minutes of the attending doctor’s request, never more than an hour or two. Canadian hospitals use triage to assess and prioritize patients, so if you go to an emergency department for a persistent cough, you can expect that your case will have less priority than a headwound or heart attack, but you will be seen. That said, a walk-in clinic or your regular physician would give you better service for minor or chronic issues, leaving emergency departments for … emergencies. When I left the hospital after a two month stay in a private room (just fortunate) and dozens of procedures and treatments, the only thing the hospital gave me was their best wishes, no bill at all to be concerned with. One thing that the Canadian medical system won’t hand out for free is optional treatments to placate people who miss their old way of life, and believe that a given treatment will return them to their youth. I have many friends and acquaintances who have had joints replaced free of charge well into their 80s, when one might argue the investment would be hard to amortize, but that doesn’t factor into the availability of procedures. If a doctor doesn’t feel a treatment is viable, Canadians are free to seek second, third, or fourth opinions, but if it isn’t viable, then they’re unlikely to get the procedure. That leads us to a skill that both Canadians and Americans must hone, which is advocacy, both to get procedures/treatment and to avoid it where appropriate. If you don’t know how to advocate for yourself or your loved one, there is a strong possibility that you’ll be ignored or railroaded in either overburdened system. Triage often errs on the patient who expresses the most dire need, and some unrepentant liars have certainly moved to the front of the line, where more stoic patients might be bypassed. Bottom line, I have paid millions of dollars in taxes and the Canadian government has probably just about broken even on me due to my use of the medical system. Prior to my health concerns, I didn’t begrudge a single dollar of my taxes because I knew they went, in part, to people who needed the medical assistance my contributions helped enable, regardless of their financial situation and insurance status. There’s no tit for tat against the American system, the average Canadian has better access to medical aid than an American, with cheaper access to necessary prescription drugs, and pays a few thousand more in taxes than the average American perhaps, but the Canadian coverage can never be denied, and having experienced both systems, the Canadian system is better run and provides a better service.

People need to review their bill if they were hospitalized. The hospital will charge the patient for thing's that were not given to them. When I worked at a hospital, I had to review the charts on all patient's that came through the ER, Surgery or hospitalized. Patient's that have Medicare and Medi-cal will be charged for thing's that were not ordered or given. Many doctor's will over charge. I just found out that my dentist charged my Medi-cal for teeth that were not extracted. Now that I do need them extracted, I either have to pay the dentist or wait until my other dentist reimburses Medi-cal back. I know Medicare doesn't cover dental, just to show you that if you receive Medicare and Medi-cal, you really do not receive an itemized statement, unless you ask and one will see what they were charged. Thieves.

Unfortunately, even IF the doctor WAS on the level, she could not have discussed the patient's case with the news team due to HIPPA regulations, which by the way, protect the doctors in cases like this more than the patient. It's total bullshit and this doctor should lose her licence, be fined, and serve jail time.

I received Medicare at 65. They told me to go in for a Welcome to Medical free Check up. For some reason they made Medicare my secondary instead of my primary insurance. It took 1 year for Medicare to straighten all of this out. In the meantime I receive notices of that bill being sent to collection agencies because neither Medicare or my Secondary would pay the bill. Sooooo stressful to go through their mistake.

So glad we have a non-profit and free health care system in the UK !! A doctor even told me there would be a very good chance I would have an operation after a sports injury if I was in the USA, even though it wasn't really necessary.
@zb28453 жыл бұрын
I wish we had non-profit health care system too, so doctors couldn't take advantage. The problem with the US is that doctors can get away with charging MEDICARE, basically the government, because the bills sent to the government are not seen by the patient. Anyone else who does not have Medicare may not actually get the same opportunity of care, and maybe less than needed. Even with insurance, it is an arm and a leg, even when you pay over $300 per month.

I haven't able to get insurance for a decade. Then I fell down a case of stairs in my rental that were not to code and have a traumatic brain injury. The ER doctor in my town knew the hospital could not save me and they got me the closer facility that could in the next state. So I am grateful for an exceptional neurosurgeon team and an art of state ICU, but that is more expensive I could fathom. Good news! Within a few days, bam - I got medicaid. The hospital orchestrated the whole thing, they started paid before I was physically able to hold a pen. Now back to those stairs in my rental - they're very steep and obviously not to code. The height of the steps aren't the same of the other. Like, a rudimentary DYI bullshit job. I didn't like that, but I was just happy to find a place I could afford after escaping a nightmare marriage. Came to knew the woman who lived here before me died from falling down those stairs and it wasn't investigated bc it was the owner's MOTHER. He knew I was in a gravely injured state but why, and did let the 3 months unpaid until I was home and could get it together and pay it all back. What a nice guy! Then he found out it was the fucking stairs that nearly killed me. Who's days are numbered when he suddenly decided to sell it after 5 years with no issues? All my savings are gone, no idea what I'm gonna do. Get a lawyer? Yeah, I'm about to live in my car lol. The hospital will figure out how to get paid, but it really isn't for your protection. When you need help it only comes to you when it's lining someone else's pocket. This is a cruel life lesson.
