Exclusively pumping is exclusively breastfeeding!! I found you because I started to exclusively pump my daughter last year and found a lot of insight when I watched your story and it helped me feel better for doing it. It was hard but so dang worth it!

OMG. I feel you are telling my story. Finish EP with my first son and now with my daughter I decided to go EP directly after one week of struggling with nursing again. Happy mom. Happy baby. Happy family. Former flight attendant here 🥰 miss my years flying. ✈️

Needed this!!! We introduced the bottle to my little one at 2 weeks after my husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor requiring brain surgery.. my kiddo is almost 3 months and still refuses to latch onto the breast. I’ve been beating myself up until now. Have been exclusively pumping and it’s HARD work. Whoever says this is the easy way out has no idea. I would do ANYTHING to get my baby to “breast” feed 😩
@victoria.galvin4 жыл бұрын
I am so glad I found your channel. I’m pumping with a low supply right now and just haven’t been able to make latching work. We do have to supplement with formula, but my goal is to get my supply up so I don’t have to. Power pumping now 🍼💪🏻

I just want to say, you are an inspiration. It’s been 5 years for me since my second and last kid, but nobody talked to me about exclusive pumping or even a way to manage it. I felt so awful and it took me a long time to accept fed is best ideas because my support group was all breast only. I never saw a balance of combo feeding or exclusive pumping. This is a great video!!!

Loved this video! I watched your exclusively pumping videos with Luka! I had my son in December and wasn’t sure about breastfeeding and in the hospital it didn’t go well so I decided to exclusively pump because I had seen a few videos on it including yours! I’ve been EP’ing for 5 months now and it’s tough but because of videos like yours that helped me from the start I’ve made it this far! You’re great and I definitely agree the portable pump is FANTASTIC. Love my Elvie and don’t know if I would have made it this far without it!

As a soon to be first time mom, I so appreciate your videos about pumping because as much as I want to nurse and pump, I know that so many things can go wrong/prevent me from success with nursing (bad latch, or low milk supply, too much pain for me to handle, etc) so seeing someone be so positive about still doing your best to breastfeed your babies through pumping, just makes me feel like I have a solid chance at least with still breastfeeding by pumping for my baby. It’s encouraging and makes me less scared for if I can’t nurse directly

So excited about this series!!! I’m new to exclusively pumping...just started a couple of weeks ago with my almost 6 month old! She wasn’t acting like she was interested in nursing anymore and her latch has never been great so I decided it was just way less stressful to pump instead of trying to fight with her to get her to nurse. I just feed her a bottle while pumping and it has been way less stressful!

I totally agree with you 100%. Last year with I exclusively pumped with my 1 year old daughter, and I feel that pumping mother's are talked down, we're lazy, or why can't we feed our babies by breast! I agree with you, pumping is breast feeding, you are still feeding your baby milk from your breasts! Your baby just isn't latching on. I've had problems with all my babies latching on . I have a premie, who is only 1 weeks old and he doesn't know how to swallow well yet, he can latch but we're having a hard time, it's easier for me to pump for my life style.

I love your pumping series! I watched you last year when I first started pumping for my, now 1 year old daughter. I exclusively pumped last year. This is my 2nd time pumping, and I'm exclusively pumping with my newborn, who's 1 weeks old this time! I find your videos so helpful! Pumping while I'm watching you! Lol

THANK YOU for clarifying the supply amount! When I had my daughter 6 months ago I was so worried because I had seen all these “influencers” talking about getting 10 or 15 ounces on each breast and all that. I realize now that not all moms produce that much! Looooove you!

Thank you so much for this video! You sharing your journey has absolutely helped me feel less alone on my exclusive pumping journey. I nursed my first for more than a year and have had to exclusive pump with my second who is 4.5 months due to missed tongue and lip tie which led to a whole host of issues. So looking forward to more EP videos and thank you again!

I am one of those people who prefers not to pump. The main reason being I’m so lazy! Lol the set up and washing all the parts every time! It took so much of my time all while still trying to adjust life with a newborn as a first time mom. I do however use the haaka pump! And that has been the best investment ever. Able to collect enough milk to stash and also to make bottles for when I have to leave him.

Do you pump every 3 hours at night or do you stretch out your sessions? What sort of pump cleaning/ organizing tools and routine works best? Do you have multiple sets of pumping supplies that you rotate? How do you store your milk? Also do you use any sort of special bra. I'm currently pumping after every breastfeeding session 😩 per my lactation consultant's advice but am considering exclusively pumping because nursing, pumping, and supplementing with what I pump is just way too much. P.S. I did see you have a video on this but an updated one would be appreciated if it's changed. A walk through of your routine would be so helpful from start to cleanup. Thank you!!!

Thank you! Such videos give me the support I haven't got. First time mom. My mom is clueless as she had no issues with me and I am the only child. My husband and father knew if I decided to pump there will be a reason as I don call it quits so early. I tried breastfeeding for nearly a month. Then I realised the pain was causing a dip in my supply and my baby cudnt effectively empty my breasts as I kept changing position. He has a very painful latch. I started to lactate on 3rd after suppliments. I would scream when nurses tried to get him to latch. There was pink spots on the nipple shield which the nurses said was blood and the nipple was cracked. The sillicon nipple shield gave almost nil protection. Saw almost all the youtube video on latching. Tried the C hold. Tried different positions came to know of my flat nipples. Hated me for my anatomical shortcomings. But babies in videos also latched well to flat and inverted nipples. My baby became fussy as I pulled my nipple out a multiple times as the pain became unbearable. We alternated with formula since he seemed to b always hungry as he did not get proper flow of milk. I dreaded breastfeeding sessions. The only time I was able to love my baby was when he was not latched. After crying my eyes out and battling depression I changed to exclusive pumping to save my supply . Kept trying now and then but his latch was still like scraping of nipples with a blade. At last I totally distanced him from my breasts as it made it difficult to bond. Finally I concluded for most breastfeeding comes so naturally that they can never understand the pain that comes with flat nipples, painful latch and the mental agony of judgement from people. There is much more to motherhood than just breastfeeding.

I am so your fan! Society is very pushy but as long as you are comfortable and, in the end it is YOUR decision to make, it is fine. I breastfeed but once my baby gets her first tooth I'm done, pumping will be my next step (I am pumping once a day as a little break for me, so at night hubby would feed her) 😊

Not many midwives or healthcare providers prepare new mums for how hard breastfeeding is we should be prepared for the challenges before the baby is born I'm only 2 weeks in and I'm emotionally and physically drained on so many levels thinking of pumping only to help save my mental health and enjoy feeds rather than dread them 💕
@lizette69084 жыл бұрын
I so agree with everything you said! My hospital staff didn't want me to pump right away either for some reason and I still don't understand why. Next time I think I'm going to bring my pump to the hospital and with some great nipple cream because the first time I pumped I had no cream and I wanted to cry lol. Also I really don't think nipple confusion is a real thing. Idk maybe that's just me but some babies just have preferences I think and I personally would rather have my babies get used to a bottle rather than my nipple lol.
@HayleySulfridge4 жыл бұрын
Lizette Miranda i think it’s only a thing for people like me, mine are super small so because he took a bottle pretty quick, it’s like my nipple doesn’t exist to him lol i have to nurse with the shields and i HATE it, but he seriously doesn’t get that my nipple is even there without it 🤣

Just subscribed to your channel x I am soon to give birth and I plan on exclusively pumping and I am get so stressed when I'm thinking I'll need to explain my choices to the midwifes in hospital, I'm in the UK, and they are really into breastfeeding by force, I've been asked at each appointment about baby feeding plans ,and I said I'll feed my baby with breast milk but didn't told them how because I am not prepared in having them discourage me and make me feel like a shitty future mom or like a less of a mom for it. I feel frustrated that we even have to explain, and that we can't just be supported first hand when we express our way into feeding our babies. Luckily my husband supports every ideea that I have as long as his baby is fed and I am happy he's there for us and it matters a lot to have him protect my choices from those that don't understand. Thank you for being so informative and open, you are giving us courage, make us feel like we are not alone ,and you are amazing for that ❤

I had purchased the Willow (now trying to sell it) and really did not like it at all. It was not comfortable to me and I always felt sore after using it. Is the Elvie a lot different? I have a 16 month old and a 3 week old so I did like the wearable option. I’m worried about spending a lot of money again on the Elvie because I had a bad experience with the Willow):

Have you done a video on flange sizing? I have had problems figuring out whether I am slightly larger or smaller than the flange I am using, but I am getting a white ring around my nipples and I think I have too much areola going in the tunnel. I do end up getting little cracks and blisters on my nipples from rubbing and pulling in the flange tunnel. According to the sizing charts at 19mm I should be using a 24mm flange, but I am 5wks postpartum and have not gone past 1-2oz per breast with almost exclusive pumping. I try to latch 1-2 times per day in hopes that my baby will be able to feed at the breast at some point, but I know that he isn’t removing much at all right now to account for the low supply I have. I have finally ordered a smaller flange so I will see if that helps, but I think I might be in between sizes where the 21mm might be too small and the 24mm might be too big. Do you have any tips on flanges and things to use to comfort or prevent sore nipples?

I’m exclusively pumping and at what age did we’re you able to get your youngest to latch? My daughter is one month old and she still doesn’t know how to latch still. I’ve bought the willow pump and I hate that pump. It’s feels like needles are going into me when I pump with that. I’m sticking with my Mandela but I’m interested to know if you have tried the freemie pump? How much are you pumping per cession. I’m getting 3/4 oz per pumping with both breast.
