My teacher was like 40 mins late. Turns out she slept through her alarm. Then couldn’t find her car keys. Had to call her dad to drop her off at school (she lives alone.) and she finally got here. There was this other teacher yelling at us and asking where our teacher was. And our teacher ran into the classroom. She had sprinted all the way from the car park.

My excuse was that my friend died. I wasn’t lying. 5th grade my friend got into a car accident. Edit: thanks guys. It was around 3 or 4 years ago so I had time to acknowledge it. I just remembered walking in and the teachers knew what had happened and were crying. We didnt do much that day, just played around. The building was very silent and it felt eerie. The teacher said shes open if I or anyone else wanted to talk about it.

There was one time, in history class, my teacher called on me. He thought I was sleeping. Further, the question he asked me was not in any lesson we had, and as I had a reputation for never knowing the answer, the thought it was safe to call on me. He asked me what the name of the plane was that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. I did wonder why he was asking me that as it had nothing to do with the lesson for the day but I did say "It was the Enola Gay." His jaw dropped all the way to the floor and he said "I ain't asking you any more questions!" He could have asked any student in the class other than me, and they would not have known the answer. They all admitted that to me. Thing is, I like to do some research on my own, just for grins and I had just been researching the history of atomic power. Sadly for me, when it came to the things I was supposed to know, I was abysmal. I managed to pass the class with a D, the minimum passing grade.

When I was in second grade, my substitute got mad at my classmate for being late. She asked her what could possibly make her so late to school. Turns out, her dad died that morning and her mom made her go to school. Her mom got remarried three months later and they moved away. I haven’t seen her in years but I still feel bad. So something like this happened to my mom when she was in high-school: My mom had been driving to school and realized she was around 45 minutes early. After she.got Burger King and arrived at the hill that she has to drive up to get to school there was a HUGE line of cars trying to get up the hill. This took place during winter and the road was covered in ice so care kept sliding down not going up. After around 1 hr and 30 minutes everyone got up the hill and to the main office for the late slip. The Secretary ladies were being swarmed by students asking for a slip. Now the women didn't believe it intirely until my mom walked in BECAUSE my mom's mom (my grandma) was amazing friends with The secretary. They believed my mom since they knew her better then the rest of the students. Let's just say it was a cold and busy day (especially for the Secretary).

Back in February I was at my friend's birthday party (roller blading) and I fell backwards really hard on my left wrist. It took a few moments before I started crying (that was the first and only time my friend and her family ever saw me cry in the 8 years I've known them). Her mom and dad kept telling me I probably only sprained it, at worst fractured it (I've never sprained or fractured a bone before but I couldn't move it at all without being in pain). My sister finally got to pick me up and took me to the ER and I broke it ... I got it off late March and it still hurts sometimes:| But yeah, safe to say I proved them wrong:)

Once I was 30 minutes late to school because my aunt went into labor so we had to pick up her at the time 2 year old. They live 20 minutes away but this was at 7:15 am and it was raining. The highway was a nightmare and by the time we got there, it was 8:00 am. We got the toddler ready and left. We arrived at school at about 9:00. The baby born that day is turning 3 next month and she hates everyone except for me, my grandmother, and her brother. It's hilarious watching her do her "mean face" at everybody. 😂

So, one day I was late because the door of the microbus that I rode on was stuck and wouldn't open. There were lots of people and there were a lot of stop before I reached my college. We had to stay put at different stops so that the driver could try and open the door. It didn't. People really got agitated and got off from the window at different stops. Then I finally reached my college, 10min late.I had finally gotten off through the drivers door. And had taken a video as a proof So, as sooon as I reached my college, I get scolded on the main gate and questioned. I told them what had happened but they wouldn't believe me so I showed them the video. And finally I was allowed to enter the class.

I had a math teacher in high school with a few stories. One was when a girl asked for a pass to go to the nurse because she didn't feel well. He asked why. Because she was pregnant. Lesson learned. Never ask the kid publicly. Another time a kid asked him for a pass to the nurse because he didn't feel well. As he's making up the pass, the kid barfs in his classroom. Lesson learned. Never bother with the pass if the kid wants to go to the nurse. I believe it was this same teacher who, in college, asked his professor if he could take a final exam a few days after it was scheduled. His dad a massive heart attack the day before, the outlook was not good. The professor didn't allow it, but I don't recall it being out of cruelty, I think he was up against the deadline when grades had to be locked in, and this test counted for some huge part of the grade or was important for grad school or something along those lines. So, imagine taking a final, knowing that your dad is in a hospital and things don't look good. You hurry through the test as best you can, dash to the hospital, and you are too late. Your dad is gone. It is easy to have hindsight with that one, both for the professor and my math teacher, but the decisions we make are not always simple to make, and we don't always get it right.

My whole section got called to the principal's office just because a few students are late and I'm one of the few that didn't get lucky, The reason I was late because I went to the dentist but still insisted to go to school after and I also sent an excuse letter but still I got called to the principal's office which end up with me and my classmate's doing the cleaning of our whole campus for a month but when my parents know what happened they immediately went to the principal's office defend me and my classmate's that instead of getting angry at us because we're late they should see the dedication of the students to come to school and learn rather than being absent

i was out from school for a few days and missed library and handed in my book late, the librarian then said "I am giving you a fine, I get if you're on vacation, but you weren't". I tried to explain my brother tried to take his life, all my close friends watched the thing happen, and just shook their head at the librarian, she then almost lost her jobs for treating me, my friends, and other kids who apparently weren't good in her eyes.

In 6th grade my friend got a fish hook stuck in his eye, he had to miss the rest of the year for surgeries and is blind in that eye.

One of my best friends was gone for a few days, I knew why because I had her phone number but didn’t tell the teacher because that was her business, she walked in the class and the teacher expecting her to just have skipped the past few days, so he made her explain to the whole class why she wasn’t there, she said OK and blank face said my bunnies heat lamp caught the hot tub on fire and my house burned down killing my bunny in the process... it went so quiet when she showed the class the pictures to prove it... Me and her have hated that teacher ever sense.

One time I gave my dad my home work because we were eating at a resteraunt and he had it in his pocket and then the homework got put in the washer and dryer and ripped teacher beilevd it cuz it was true and she laughed about it

as someone that grew up on a farm yes the birth of an animal is more important than any class i missed a few days over the yrs due to that and the teachers only ever wanted to see photos of the new animals when they had first started walking

That actually happened to a friend of mine in middle school. Her place went up in flames and we all hadn't seen her for quite a while. At the time, I was good friends with my local firehouse and I mentioned it to the Lieutenant on duty. He asked me to ask her if she's alright and to let me and him know if she ever needed anything let him and his company know through me, I did once she came back to school, and reported back to him that she was and give them her thanks.
