Controlling the Zerg was the Confederate elites old family agenda, the Confederates ruthlessness during the Guild War against Kel Morian, and mass nuking of Korhal kinda ruined their image of friendly factions among the Terrans. The Zerg come in time to fix their rebelling colony problem and restore their image

Its likely the latter; Having served as part of the Confederacy military himself, he probably knew a thing or two about how they and old family politics worked.

Mengsk knew the Zerg werent from the Koprulu Sector. He first learned of them when he rescued Kerrigan from the Ghost Program, where her handlers were exposing Ghost's to isolated Zerg they had in containment. At the time though the Zerg found in the sector were small pockets of scouts sent by the Overmind, so the Confederacy thought they could use what they considered simple xenomorphs as a new form of biological weapon. It wasnt till the Fall of Chau Sara that everyone realized how severe the situation was. After that, Mengsk saw a chance to use the Zerg to his advantage and took it.

The increased Confederate strength makes it more believable that they'd resort to the Psi Emitter.

Yeah I always felt like this mission should have been no build stealth mission (use Ghosts and Kerrigan to open path for SCV to place it) not "bulldoze their base then place psi emitter as BM move"

@@allhailderpfestor4839 I usually just grabbed everyone and rushed the emitter and Kerrigan into place while the base got demolished.

I still think Biting the Bullet should go after The Trump Card, since in this mission they draw the Zerg to the planet, and in Biting the Bullet they're dealing with the consequences of that and ultimately need Tassadar to bail them out. Duke's absence can be explained by him having to sit the mission out because he got banged up in the crash or something, but he's ready to go by Biting the Bullet.

Duke's absence could be also explained by *the lack of the vehicle for Duke to command* at the moment, with his signature personal Siege Tank to be repaired only by the times of Biting the Bullet mission.

Meanwhile, on StarCraft Alternate… After an exposition on the Prial Zerg and Mind Nodes, Kerrigan tasks Duran to deliver one to the Garm hive cluster that has landed nearby. The Surtur Cerebrate, Araq, and Zasz (without any special unit to control) are tasked with making sure he makes it there.

I have a feeling of that the mission became less difficult when the siege tanks got unlocked.

AI always throws stuff infront of the siege tanks which makes things easier
